- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Social dynamics, gendered subjectivities, and surreptitious acts of agency from women to face intimate partner violence in a rural community of Peru(SAGE Publishing, 2022-12-06)The article analyzes women's inner subjective processes while engaged in male-to-female intimate partner violence (IPV) situations. Through in-depth interviews with 12 women who had suffered violence in a rural community in Peru, it examines three topics: social dynamics that simultaneously contribute to resist within and openly question IPV, the transformations of hegemonic femininity in the community and the implications on their gendered subjectivities, and women's surreptitious acts and processes of agency to recalibrate power within their situation of IPV. In conclusion, women experience inner psychic tensions about themselves, their partners, and their relationships, which enables them to question IPV while resisting within the violent situation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Promoting justice through community-based research: international case studies(John Wiley and Sons Inc, 2022-06-01)Community-based participatory research (CBPR) approaches to promoting justice focus on working from the ground up and giving a voice to marginalized communities regarding their concerns, potential solutions, and how to address social justice issues that matter to them. The pursuit of justice is often related to efforts to attain personal as well as collective well-being. In this paper, we illustrate three exemplars of community psychologists' efforts to promote justice. Within each case study, we discuss the social and community context and examine how the researchers built partnerships and solidarity, developed ways of doing, and approached challenges and solutions. First, we present an example to promote economic justice through an entrepreneurship initiative developed in collaboration with young Black youth with disabilities in the United States. The second case illustrates an effort to promote reproductive justice in collaboration with Roma women and girls in Spain. The third exemplar depicts the use of life stories as a method to raise the voices of displaced, marginalized indigenous women in Peru. Based on these three case studies, we present a synthesis model of social justice. We also discuss implications for future studies emphasizing the importance of engaging community participants in research meaningful ways, developing sustainable partnerships, and decolonizing research. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Migration processes in Indigenous women post internal armed conflict in Peru(Sociedad Interamericana de Psicologia, 2024-09-09)This paper presents an analysis of the migratory movements of indigenous women in the community of Sacsamarca, Ayacucho, Peru. Based on the qualitative method, life histories and field ethnography were used as sources of data collection. The results indicate that the migration of indigenous women is an Andean community practice, made possible by a network of paisanaje that acts as a facilitating factor. In addition, the findings show that the Internal Armed Conflict (CAI) is a breaking point in the dynamics of the migration processes of Andean communities in Peru and, in the case of these women, it helps to understand the two-way process, since Sacsamarca is a community whose characteristics allow them to return. It is concluded that it is a dynamic process of coming and going, which questions the territorial-geographical-limits of the community and the unidirectional conception of migration. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Actos de sanación en mujeres de Ayacucho en el posconflicto en Perú(Asociación de Psicología de Puerto Rico, 2024-12-31)This study is part of a collaborative work with the women of Sacsamarca, recognized for being one of the first communities in Ayacucho to confront the violence of Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) in Peru in the 1980's. The starting point is community psychology in dialogue with decolonial feminism to build a methodological design relevant to the historical, social and cultural context of this Andean community. We used field ethnography and life histories, as well as photographic records to understand the different experiences of well-being/discomfort of a group of adult women living in Sacsamarca. From the thematic analysis, we identify some dimensions and themes that emerge from the different data collection techniques. We found a set of “healing acts”, as artistic and ritual expressions with nature, which are characterized by their communal, performative, spiritual, affective and resistant features. From this, we assert the importance for the women of this community, affectivity and collective action for the search of wellbeing based on respect, relationality and care of cultural frameworks. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Participatory and healing methodologies with ANFASEP women: A collaborative learning project(2024-08-03)Based on collaborative work carried out with women, family members and volunteers of the National Association of Relatives of Kidnapped, Detained, and Disappeared of Peru (ANFASEP), we aim to present and analyze the development of a collaborative and healing methodology emerging from the dialogue between indigenous and urban identities. More specifically, members of ANFASEP and ourselves - the researchers – worked together to develop a deeper understanding of their collective, relational, and personal political agency within the framework of various projects conducted between the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (IDEHPUCP) and ANFASEP from 2017 to 2023. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Mental Health and Prison System in the Context of COVID-19: Comprehensive Analysis of the Peruvian Case(Springer Nature, 2023-11-09)The arrival of COVID-19 in Latin America revealed the permeability of its prisons and the structural conditions that affect both inmates and prison staff. Within this framework, an inter-institutional project was developed between the Research Group in Forensic and Penitentiary Psychology of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and the National Penitentiary Institute, aimed at understanding and mitigating the impact of the pandemic on the mental health of the people in the Peruvian penitentiary system. This article details the action-research process and the results of the three lines of action developed in the first eight months. Perspectives from which to (re)think psychology as a discipline in an emergency context and the scope of mental health care actions at the institutional level are discussed.
