Item type:Publication, Weapons, Funds, and International Recognition in the War of the Pacific. The Role of the Legation of Peru in France and England After the Fall of Lima (1881-1884)(Universidad del Pacífico Press, 2023-01-30)This research focuses on knowing the actions deployed by the Peruvian legation in France and England after the fall of Lima in the hands of the Chilean army and in the midst of a deep political anarchy that influenced the setting of the objectives of the foreign policy of the parallel governments that Peru had between 1881 and 1883, specifically in obtaining funds and weapons for the regimes of the presidents Francisco García Calderón, Nicolás de Piérola, Lizardo Montero and Miguel Iglesias. Despite the deep political division, the Peruvian legation continued with the execution of the orders of Lima and Arequipa as part of foreign policy, although with increasing autonomy towards the end of the war. In this sense, unpublished information from various historical sources will be analyzed, including the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, the National Library of Peru, and the Riva Agüero Institute of the PUCP - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The documentation of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs allows us to know the objectives of the foreign policy developed by the Peruvian Foreign Ministry and shows the importance of information processing and analysis of the international scene. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The objectives of Peruvian foreign policy in Ecuador during the War of the Pacific (1879-1884). Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Life, passion and death of a Peruvian newspaper abroad during the Pacific war. Financing and tours of Federico Larrañaga to rescue El Canal (1881-1883)(Universidad Cientifica del Sur, 2025-04-30)The newspaper El Canal was founded in Panama in 1881 by the Peruvian consul Federico Larrañaga after the fall of Lima. Its founding was due to an individual initiative, which was justified as an effort that would add to the media strategy to defend President Nicolás de Piérola. But, in the long term it was not a sustainable project because it required permanent financing, but it was difficult to access resources due to the economic and political crisis. The article reconstructs Larrañaga's efforts to maintain the publication of the newspaper, which initially led him to rely on national funds until he self-financed it with amounts obtained on tours he undertook to Mexico, Venezuela and Central America. We use unpublished sources from various Peruvian archives to reconstruct the itinerary and life history of the newspaper and the attempts to obtain new funds abroad.3
