Item type:Publication, Knowledge construction and systematization of solar adsorption refrigeration prototypes(Elsevier, 2021-11-01)Tests of adsorption cooling prototypes with solar energy that use the silica gel–water pair have been reported in the literature; however, there is no work that analyzes, compares and integrates them to generate new knowledge from their data and results. In this context, our proposal consists comparing thermodynamic results, determining the characteristics of their parts and functions, and analyzing technical contradictions through the TRIZ methodology, for twelve identified adsorption refrigeration prototypes (including one where a co-author of this paper participated). The results and characteristics of the analyzed prototypes have been systematized, also a diversity of constructive forms was found in the studied prototypes, as well as in the non-standardized results and tests because some aspects were emphasized in each test. The results and simulations are compared using COP and refrigeration capacity as parameters to extrapolate new results consisting of a hybridized conceptual model and projected test results based on those found in the literature. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design of a photovoltaic pumping system for irrigation using solar energy in the department of Lambayeque-Peru(IJETAE Publication House, 2021-10-01)Due to the large amount of electrical energy necessary for human life and the fact that its origin is nonrenewable, a deterioration of the various ecosystems has been caused, due to the depletion of natural resources. Therefore, it is necessary to find effective solutions that mitigate ecological problems, based on that, this study seeks to implement a photovoltaic pumping system for irrigation using solar energy in the Department of Lambayeque, to take advantage of this natural resource. The methodology implemented is the applied one, with an experimental design. The instrument used for data collection is the registration form. The results showed that effectively the proposed design allows the pumping of a water flow equivalent to 270.4 m3 / day, capturing an average radiation of 6.55 kW / m2 per day. The use of a charge regulator connected to 4 batteries improved the operation of the photovoltaic pumping system and allows maintaining the durability of the equipment that compose it. It was concluded that the design of the photovoltaic pumping system is effective for the irrigation of crops in Lambayeque. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Estimation of Hydrogen Production Potential from Renewable Resources in Northern Peru(Elsevier BV, 2023-08-17)This research evaluates the potential for green hydrogen production in the Piura region, northern Peru, utilising wind, solar and biomass energy sources as well as water electrolysis. The study assesses the electrical energy generated from each renewable installation and calculates the hydrogen production potential using a 75% efficiency rate for the PEM electrolyser. The study also evaluates the potential for bioethanol reforming to produce biomass hydrogen and the environmental impact of green hydrogen as an energy carrier at a regional level. The results indicate that Piura has high potential for green hydrogen production, with solar energy being the most promising, and that green hydrogen has the potential to replace the current energy sources in the region. This research provides valuable insights into the use of green hydrogen as a renewable energy source and emphasises the need to invest in environmentally friendly hydrogen production technologies to achieve global sustainability. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Thermo–Energetic Modelling and Operational Load Limits of a Solar Dryer for Chestnuts(2026-07-01)Abstract. This study presents a thermoenergetic evaluation of a solar drying system for chestnuts, operating with an initial moisture content of 47% and a final moisture content of 20%. The system consists of a 1 m³ drying chamber coupled to a solar collector with a thermal efficiency of 45%, evaluated with an average solar irradiance of 656 W/m² and an ambient temperature of 26 °C. The processed mass was varied between 2 and 40 kg to analyze energy performance and thermal stability. The specific energy consumption (SEC) decreased from 3.63 to 2.69 kWh/kg as the load increased, indicating better energy utilization at higher processing capacities. These values are within the ranges reported for solar drying of agricultural products, confirming the system's energy suitability. However, the internal temperature analysis showed a progressive decrease with increasing mass. For loads exceeding approximately 40 kg, the calculated temperature at a critical internal point decreased significantly, indicating an energy deficit under the fixed geometric configuration. This result reveals a thermal operating limit imposed by the chamber volume rather than the collector efficiency, highlighting the need to balance load, geometry, and available thermal energy in the design of a scalable solar dryer. Key words. Solar drying, specific energy consumption (SEC), thermal stability, system scalability - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Yield and performance analysis of PERC, HIT, and CIGS photovoltaic systems in five Peruvian city-climates(Elsevier, 2026)Latin American cities face challenges in designing and maintaining distributed photovoltaics (PV), with limited multi-year, cross-climate evidence to guide procurement and policy. We present a three-year outdoor evaluation of 1.5 kWp grid-connected PV systems based on Passivated Emitter Rear Cell (PERC), Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin Layer (HIT), and Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) modules installed in five Peruvian cities: Lima (coastal desert), Chachapoyas (tropical montane forest), Arequipa (arid highlands), Tacna (hot desert), and Juliaca (high-altitude Andes). Monitoring followed IEC-61724–1 at one-minute resolution, delivering reference, array, and final yields, capture and system losses, and performance ratio (PR). Diagnostics included electroluminescence (EL) and infrared (IR) thermography. Across all climates, system losses were low and stable (∼0.14–0.31 kWh/kWp/day), highlighting capture losses as the main performance differentiator. HIT modules achieved the most consistent results (PR ≈ 0.83–0.87), sustaining high yields in humid and high-irradiance sites. PERC modules performed reliably in humid/temperate climates but underperformed in arid highlands, where EL/IR revealed early degradation and hotspot formation. CIGS modules remained stable only in the dry desert of Tacna (PR ≈ 0.81); in humid or thermally variable climates, accelerated degradation likely linked to moisture ingress and shading stress reduced PR to ≤ 0.72. The dataset demonstrates how harmonized monitoring and diagnostics can inform technology–climate suitability, O&M standards, and procurement strategies. Results support climate-class specifications—prioritizing HIT in humid/coastal and high-altitude cities, enforcing acceptance tests for PERC in moderate climates, and restricting CIGS to arid sites—thus strengthening reliability assessment and performance-based planning for distributed PV.
