Item type:Publication, Some preliminary considerations for the legal-economic analysis of corporate social responsibility(Universidad de Los Hemisferios, 2021-09-15)This review article presents some preliminary considerations and describes the evolution of corporate social responsibility, which is necessary for an informed study of this “tool”. In that sense, the authors resort to a preliminary exploration of the conceptual framework of the legal-economic approach presenting social responsibility and the relationship that subsists with “property rights”, the relevance of “transaction costs”, among other aspects. They also explore the interrelation between social responsibility and its forms of legal exercise and its characterization in areas that involve linking it with workers, unions, and consumers. The aim is to highlight its importance and build a contribution where social responsibility will be studied from an analytical and empirical perspective. Thus, it is sought to conclude that the company considers implementing and complying with good corporate governance standards since they expand the shared vision of business management, effectively allocating resources to obtain the most significant benefits of establishing a corporate social responsibility regime. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Bayesian resampling approach to estimate the difference in effect sizes in consumer social responses to CSR initiatives versus corporate abilities(John Wiley and Sons Ltd, 2021-11-01)We expand previous analyses and advance our understanding of the difference in the impact on consumer purchasing behaviour between pursuing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and improving corporate abilities. To this aim, a Bayesian bootstrapping simulation is applied to selected consumer samples for 123 homogeneous choice‐based conjoint studies. We develop a simulation‐based approach to estimate the empirical distributions of effect sizes under two Bayesian bootstrap resampling schemes. This approach permits us to evaluate the results for two predefined classifications: Foote‐Cone‐Belding (FCB) and gender. The results indicate that females exhibit higher concern for CSR initiatives. Furthermore, we found that managers can exploit the classification of their product in the FCB grid and obtain more efficient consumer responses by implementing strategies focused on certain attributes. This is the first application of the FCB grid to identify differences in consumer responses across different products with different levels of rational consideration and involvement.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Responsible leadership: a comparative study between Peruvian national and private universities(Ani Publishing, 2022-01-01)A university community that works for and supports students along their developmental trajectory through responsible leadership is important for a sustainable and accountable educational environment. Public and private institutions differ in their student leadership responsibilities. In light of this, the objective of this study is to analyze the level of responsible leadership between public and private colleges in Peru in 2022. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study employs quantitative and descriptive-comparative research methods. This study's sample included 459 instructors from six public and private institutions in Peru. The survey-based method was used to collect data on responsible education leadership. Findings: The study's findings emphasized the importance of responsible leadership in colleges. This study shows that private institutions in Peru have a better level of responsible leadership than governmental universities. Practical Implications: This study underlines that strong leadership should always seek innovation in the field of education, keeping current with the most recent achievements and collecting feedback from university teachers and students. To obtain a higher education level, institutions should therefore foster responsible leadership. Originality/value: This research contributes to a previously unexplored section of the literary canon. Several prior studies have researched responsible leadership; however, the context of the present study is neglected by those prior studies. Previous research neglected the significance of responsible leadership within universities. Rarely have past studies compared national universities in Peru to private ones. Therefore, this work made a substantial contribution to the corpus of knowledge. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Taking stock of corporate social responsibility practices in Peru: the role of internal and external CSR, accountability and citizenship(Inderscience Publishers, 2022-01-01)This paper reviews corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its challenges in four main Peruvian private sectors (agroindustry, construction, mining and manufacturing). Based on the lessons learned, it aims at raising awareness on CSR crucial role in Peru, and responsiveness on sustainable development issues, while providing a roadmap to practitioners to measure CSR compliance. Through a qualitative approach, the question this paper intends to answer is to what extent Peruvian companies comply with internal and external CSR practices along with accountability and citizenship. To answer this question, we selected a purposive sample of private sector Peruvian companies; structured interviews have been conducted to measure and then compare their compliance rate concerning the mentioned CSR dimensions. While still much needs to be improved concerning CSR practices in these Peruvian private sectors, based on our research, citizenship appears to be a critical aspect which needs further attention by companies and policymakers in Peru. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Business school model of social responsibility and sustainability and its impact on small- and mid-sized enterprises(Emerald Publishing Limited, 2022-03-28)Purpose This study aims to define a business school model of social responsibility (SR) and sustainability and describe how the implementation of this model impacts on small- and mid-sized enterprises (SME) and stakeholders in the chain. Design/methodology/approach The model was built based on a conceptual analysis about the literary and documentary review in recognized databases of scientific publications and models of SR, accreditations and impact and quality report systems of business schools. The implementation of the model was based on a project that involved Peruvian SME. Data were collected through surveys administered to the study population. The results were confirmed through in-depth interviews. Analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive-analytical methods were used to present the SR model. Findings This model focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), partnerships and solved relevant social and economic problems. It also allowed the growth of the micro entrepreneur, the family, the company, the society and other stakeholders in the chain. Research limitations/implications The model was validated in one business school but generated more results than the expected. It is recommended to replicate it in other organizations. It has been developed in pandemic and post-pandemic situations. Practical implications The model was based on many impact models that considered the SDGs and relevant alliance generation that involved stakeholders in the chain. It also contributed to the development of entrepreneurs and the society. Social implications The model benefited people, society and companies. The program aimed to train and formalize entrepreneurs and generate social and economic development. Originality/value This study allowed moving from theory to practice in topics of SR and sustainability. The main original aspect is that the model was based on the Unión de Responsabilidad Social Universitaria Latino Americana model; the Business Graduates Association, European Quality Improvement System, Business school Impact System, Global Reporting Initiative standards, the Responsible Business Conduct and the SDGs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Responsible consumption trend in Generation Z and millennials: Its impact on SDG 12. A Peruvian case study(Emerald Publishing, 2024-10-09)This study aims to analyze the responsible consumption of Generation Z and millennials in the Latin American market, with special emphasis on the Peruvian case, to identify their differences with consumers born in 1980 and earlier and to evaluate their contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 12. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted on a sample of 309 persons living in Lima. After developing and validating an instrument, an online questionnaire was used to collect data. These data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially, using chi-square tests to validate the relationship between variables. Findings: The study identifies and explains the new trend of responsible consumption among Generation Z and millennials in emerging markets, where end consumers interact with and prefer products and services from companies that demonstrate responsible behavior and offer trust. It identifies new consumption variables that go beyond the traditional ones. Research limitations/implications: The study reveals a trend in the responsible consumption of Generation Z and millennials in Peru. However, it is necessary to complement the study in other countries in the region, as well as to study the new generations, such as the alpha generation and their consumption patterns. Practical implications: The new trend of responsible consumption among Generation Z and millennials is forcing companies to implement strategies and develop corporate social responsibility programs. These companies must demonstrate ethical, environmental, socially responsible and sustainable behaviors in their daily operations to satisfy their stakeholders. Originality/value: The study reveals a new trend in Peru, a developing country, where the market – the end consumer – is more informed and therefore demands better corporate performance from companies, including care for the environment and a contribution to society that includes a good relationship with its stakeholders. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Corporate Social Responsibility and Return: Social Impact, a Case Study of an Emerging Market Oil Industry in Stock Exchange(2023-05-31)This paper analyzes the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social impact within the oil industry in an emerging market (Peru). Following the emerging literature on the social impact field, and using the case study methodology, the findings show that the expected positive relationship is diverse depending on several factors. Specifically, the results reveal that companies must focus on community and environmental responsibility, together with stakeholders' involvement to achieve social impact. However, when companies are weak in any of the previous factors, then the social impact is only partially accepted or even withdrawn. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
