Item type:Publication, Introduction to Perovskites: A Historical Perspective(Springer, 2020-01-01)The chapter focuses on how the name perovskite evolved from being used for a particular, and geologically not very relevant, mineral discovered in the eighteen century to symbolize a vast number of essential materials in our society that are also intensively investigated nowadays due to their promising applications. The transition took decades to occur and involved several scientists from different but related disciplines such as geology, mineralogy, chemistry, and physics. Here, a short and condensed account of the history of research on perovskites since the discovery of the mineral is given. The account would include how and when the perovskite family grew and incorporated related structures such as the hexagonal perovskites, double (or elpasolite ) perovskites, Aurivillius and Ruddlesden-Popper layered phases, and oxygen-deficient compounds, among others. Special attention is given to the relevant scientists that inspired hundreds of others. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Filming horror in post-conflict Peru: Making and marketing La Casa Rosada(Springer, 2020-12-17)This chapter adopts an anthropological perspective to analyze the conditions, the modes of production, circulation, and exhibition of the film La casa rosada [The Pink House] (2017) by Ayacuchean director Palito Ortega Matute. The film recreates the impact of the armed conflict of 1980-2000 on the everyday lives of Ayacucheans at the time. Michael Herzfeld's concept of "cultural intimacy" is used to explore the film's highly artisanal and familial approach to filmmaking, which fostered a distinctive emotional connection with the local audience, triggered by their own memories of the ways that the city of Ayacucho experienced the conflict. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Exploring Enabling Factors for Innovation Outcomes. A Firm-Level Analysis(EAFIT University, 2020-07-28)Major innovation research has been primarily focused on developed countries, creating a gap in the literature related to innovation processes in emerging markets, such as Latin America. Even as some studies are aimed toward this region, their approach is usually only from the standpoint of an R&D funding perspective. This paper aims to discuss the relationship between resources for innovation and sources of innovation with innovation outcomes, using a sample of Peruvian companies, which received public funds oriented to the developing of innovative activities. Results found evidence that the presence of resources for innovation and sources of innovation have a positive influence on innovation outcomes. Moreover, resources for innovation are related to non-technological innovation, with internal R&D being the most carried out by companies even when it is not related to product nor process innovation. While sources of innovation are related to product innovation, firms demonstrated an incipient use of inter-firm collaboration strategies as its sources it. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sex Differences in Mate Preferences Across 45 Countries: A Large-Scale Replication(SAGE Publishing, 2020-04-01)Considerable research has examined human mate preferences across cultures, finding universal sex differences in preferences for attractiveness and resources as well as sources of systematic cultural variation. Two competing perspectives—an evolutionary psychological perspective and a biosocial role perspective—offer alternative explanations for these findings. However, the original data on which each perspective relies are decades old, and the literature is fraught with conflicting methods, analyses, results, and conclusions. Using a new 45-country sample ( N = 14,399), we attempted to replicate classic studies and test both the evolutionary and biosocial role perspectives. Support for universal sex differences in preferences remains robust: Men, more than women, prefer attractive, young mates, and women, more than men, prefer older mates with financial prospects. Cross-culturally, both sexes have mates closer to their own ages as gender equality increases. Beyond age of partner, neither pathogen prevalence nor gender equality robustly predicted sex differences or preferences across countries. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Some preliminary considerations for the legal-economic analysis of corporate social responsibility(Universidad de Los Hemisferios, 2021-09-15)This review article presents some preliminary considerations and describes the evolution of corporate social responsibility, which is necessary for an informed study of this “tool”. In that sense, the authors resort to a preliminary exploration of the conceptual framework of the legal-economic approach presenting social responsibility and the relationship that subsists with “property rights”, the relevance of “transaction costs”, among other aspects. They also explore the interrelation between social responsibility and its forms of legal exercise and its characterization in areas that involve linking it with workers, unions, and consumers. The aim is to highlight its importance and build a contribution where social responsibility will be studied from an analytical and empirical perspective. Thus, it is sought to conclude that the company considers implementing and complying with good corporate governance standards since they expand the shared vision of business management, effectively allocating resources to obtain the most significant benefits of establishing a corporate social responsibility regime. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Peru: from exclusionary constitutionalism to a transformative one, progress and remaining challenges(2021-06-08)This article covers the evolution of key gender relations issues in Peruvian constitutions for almost a century, from 1931 to 2021. It analyses the path travelled from the exclusion of women as citizens to the achievement of parity in political participation; the transformation of the equality clause into one that has the possibility to incorporate discrimination based on sexual orientation as a prohibited category; as well as changes in the conception of maternity protection by the State, until one arrives at a provision that recognizes the right of people to decide individually about their reproductive choices. The article also reports on the participation of women in the struggle for these gains, their initiatives both in formal and informal spaces, as well as the demands of first and second wave feminist movements. All these points are organised through categories coined by Ruth Rubio Marín, to understand constitutionalism from a gender perspective: exclusionary, inclusive, participatory, and transformative constitutionalism.
