Sobre el conocimiento de la cosa en sí según Schopenhauer
(Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, 2020-04-15)
This paper proposes to analyze Schopenhauer’s methodological and hermeneutical considerations regarding the knowledge of the thing-in-itself. For this purpose, I explain the nature of the philosophical abstraction in light of the primacy of the metaphysics of the Will. I argue that the possibility of the philosophical research is rooted on the interpretation of self-knowledge as an instance of the Will’s objectivation. In this regard, I will plead that the definition and criteria developed by Schopenhauer for his philosophy are established at the expense of deductive demonstration, in favor of a peculiar and particular form of abstraction fitted for the philosophical enterprise and subject matter. Finally, I will present an interpretation of the epistemological basis of reflection in line with schopenhauerian philosophy.

Forum communication comment on “A multidisciplinary overview of the lower Miño River terrace system (NW Iberian Peninsula)” by E. Méndez-Quintas et al
    (Elsevier, 2020-11-10)
The paper by E. Méndez-Quintas et al. (2020) aims to give an interdisciplinary overview of the lower Miño River terrace record in NW Iberia by combining geological and archaeological data. The authors also pretend to re-interpret the geological-geomorphological evolution of this river by presenting new data and by comparing them to data published in our five related papers. However, a wrong interpretation of the data they present as well as incorrect and selective citations of ours lead to the production of a publication containing numerous errors. The most flagrant ones are the mapping of fluvial terraces on one side of the river only and an incorrect interpretation of the sedimentological information used to correlate terrace remnants along-river. This results in incorrect longitudinal profile reconstructions and an improper proposal of the evolution of the Miño terraces that is even contradicted by the data they present. On the upside, the ages of the Porto Maior terrace site published by these authors confirm our previously published longitudinal profile reconstructions and evolutionary model of the Miño valley.

Las metáforas docentes sobre la gestión educativa en una escuela pública
    (2021-06-17)
The subject of study is framed in the organizational culture and the use of metaphors. The objective of the research was to analyze the metaphors used by teachers about the dimensions of educational management in a School Education Institution in Arequipa. The information was collected through the application of a semi-structured interview directed to teachers; which showed that metaphor plays a fundamental role in the construction of social reality and whose meanings go beyond what literal language can offer us; that is to say, it is an unattainable mode of interpretation for reason. In the institution studied, no member is alien to the use of metaphors. For this reason, the findings of the metaphors analyzed show that the organization is managed as an educational community where the sense of belonging and human relationships, a system of shared values and a sense of belonging prevail notoriously.

A 3D Assessment Tool for Precise Recording of Ceramic Fragments Using Image Processing and Computational Geometry Tools
    (2025-10-01)
Recording ceramic fragments is essential for archaeological interpretation and conservation. When done manually, this task is very time consuming and greatly depends on the experience and skill of the archaeologist in charge. In this paper, we propose the implementation of a 3D acquisition and processing method to improve the accuracy and precision of the recording procedure. During the first step of the proposed process, 3D mesh models of ceramicfragments are obtained using a laser scanner. Subsequently, discrete 3D dynamic contour is utilised to extract points from the fragment's run. Orientation and diameter of the complete vessel are then estimated using a non-linear least square approach. Experiments, using manual techniques, report precision errors (variability) less than 11.97% in the diameter and 3.75% in inclination, whereas the 3D method reports errors of 2.07% and 0.42% for the same measures. Moreover, accuracy experiments report accuracy errors of less than 4.78% in the diameter, and 4.30% in inclination. These results suggest that the 3D method is accurate and more precise and i3.3%faster than the traditional methodology.
