Peru – progress in health and sciences in 200 years of independence
    (Elsevier, 2021-12-20)
Peru celebrates 200 years of independence in 2021. Over this period of independent life, and despite the turbulent socio-political scenarios, from internal armed conflict to economic crisis to political instability over the last 40 years, Peru has experienced major changes on its epidemiological and population health profile. Major advancements in maternal and child health as well as in communicable diseases have been achieved in recent decades, and today Peru faces an increasing burden of non-communicable diseases including mental health conditions. In terms of the configuration of the public health system, Peru has also strived to secure country-wide optimal health care, struggling in particular to improve primary health care and intercultural services. The science and technology infrastructure has also evolved, although the need for substantial investments remains if advancing science is to be a national priority. Climate change will also bring significant challenges to population health given Peru's geographical and microclimates diversity. Looking back over the 200-years of independence, we present a summary of key advances in selected health-related fields, thus serving as the basis for reflections on pending agendas and future challenges, in order to look forward to ensuring the future health and wellbeing of the Peruvian population.

Peru. The bicentennial of independence. Presentation
    (Wydawnictwo UMCS, 2022-07-27)
Ochab].

Románticos peruanos y el conflicto con España (1864-1866)
    (Ricardo Palma University, 2023-01-02)
Palabras claves: Románticos peruanos, escritores españoles, Guerra con España (1864-1866), poesía patriótica, Historia del Perú Peruvian romantics participated outstandingly in the literary production of the years 1840 to 1880. Despite having been formed in an anti-Spanish political environment, inherited from previous generations and the War of Independence, the talent of the Hispanic romantics attracted them and turned them into their admirers and followers. During the War with Spain (1864-1866), the Peruvian romantics played a very important role thanks to their rich patriotic and nationalist poetry, read and recited on many occasions, and disseminated by diverse means. Their works recreated some pages of the History of Peru as well as censures to the Spaniards of the Conquest and the Viceroyalty. Keywords: Peruvian romantics, Spanish writers, War with Spain (1864-1866), patriotic poetry, History of Peru.

Possible Vulnerability of Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt Tests Used for Quantum Certification
    (Wiley, 2025-12-29)
A hidden variables (HVs) model is reported, which reproduces quantum predictions for Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (Bell-CHSH) tests. The existence of such a model poses some limitations to quantum certifications that rely on Bell-CHSH inequality violations. The reported model does not prove wrong Bell's theorem. The latter assumes the factorability of the probability density p AB , which rules the stochastic behavior of the HVs. The reported HVs model is based on an extended form of p AB , which is suggested by Lebesgue's decomposition theorem for bounded functions. The considered p AB complies with locality and realism, and also with measurement independence, parameter independence and outcome independence.

265 Migration and health research in turbulent times: navigating and strengthening evidence and politics, for improved evidence-based policy across regions
    (Oxford University Press, 2025-12-01)
WKS 27: Impact of a changing political environment on research on migration and health in Europe and Latin America: Challenges and opportunities, B305 (FCSH), September 5, 2025, 09:00 - 10:00 Amidst rising political polarization and widespread funding cuts, migration and health research is increasingly constrained, with growing implications for evidence-informed policymaking. This round table convenes experts from the European and Latin American Regional Hubs of Lancet Migration, a global initiative launched following the 2018 UCL–Lancet Commission on Migration and Health and from WHO Health and Migration to reflect on how best to jointly respond to these challenges. The session aims to foster dialogue on how researchers can respond to today's complex geopolitical realities and safeguard the integrity and impact of migration health research. Guided by the WHO Research Agenda on health, migration and displacement and its implementation, the discussion will explore global, regional and national experiences and strategies for adapting to shifting priorities, and the role of research agenda setting in a constrained funding environment. Panellists will examine the role of researchers and policy makers in prioritising the topic of health and migration in politically unstable environments, the use of evidence and opportunities for translation by policymakers, and the ethical tensions surrounding objectivity and independence in research. This session underscores that evidence dissemination and translation into policy in migration and health is under threat. It calls for collective action by global academics and policy makers to anticipate and respond to evolving political and financial pressures to continue to prioritise this topic. By sharing cross-regional and global insights and strengthening networks, the round table seeks to equip researchers with tools to remain effective and resilient in their work—despite mounting external constraints.
