Item type:Publication, Población venezolana en Perú en tiempos de COVID-19: luchar contra la adversidad para lograr la inclusión social(Universidad Icesi, 2021-05-25)Before 2014, Peru had never been a common destination country for migrants and refugees. However, the exodus of people coming from Venezuela would lead the country to become the second in the world to receive this population in absolute numbers, with 830 000 as of July 2020 (Bahar et al., 2020, p. 9).Although at the beginning the State decided to adopt an open-door policy regarding the entry and permanence of Venezuelans, since mid-2018 migration control has become more restrictive. This situation has become even more adverse for them since the beginning of the pandemic of COVID-19, as they have had to go through situations of discrimination, despite its condition of especial vulnerability.Given this scenario, this article will examine certain actions and omissions carried out by the State, which reveal violations of human rights of these people, fostered by a public opinion of rejection towards them. Finally, the importance of developing citizen awareness actions questioning these perceptions and encouraging social inclusion will also be analyzed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Street Workers and the Law: A First Impression on Legalized Discrimination in Municipal Ordinances on the Matter in Metropolitan Lima(Onati International Institute for the Sociology of Law, 2023-10-03)Street trade is one of the most common sources of income for people living in poverty in mostly informal economies. Such work exposes them to a series of economic, social and also legal barriers. In the present document, we have analyzed the legal provisions of eight districts of Metropolitan Lima to determine how the norms regulate the work, the use of space, hygiene and the time of street traders in this city. According to our research, the municipal ordinances of Metropolitan Lima point to the street trader as another racialized person who must be controlled in the public space. Although it is not excluded, its inclusion is precarizing, increasing its vulnerability. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, El lugar de la mujer: La segregación ocupacional horizontal por razón de género en el mercado laboral peruano(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2023-11-22)This essay delves into the persistent problem of occupational gender segregation in the labor market and its impact on equal opportunities. Despite the increase in female participation in the workforce in recent decades, labor inequalities remain a reality that poses significant challenges to achieving gender equity in the workplace. In the Peruvian context, a marked occupational segregation is evident: women predominate in sectors such as services and commerce, while men mostly occupy “masculinized” positions in the formal private sector. The methodology used combines an exhaustive review of the literature from economic and gender perspectives with the analysis of official statistics and scientific publications. The bibliographic review is carried out from a multidisciplinary approach, which combines economic and gender elements, allowing a comprehensive analysis of occupational segregation based on gender. The collection and processing of relevant quantitative information on occupational segregation in the Peruvian context provides a solid basis for understanding the current situation and trends in the Peruvian labor market in relation to gender segregation. In this way, it seeks to make visible the pre-existing dimensions that define the place of women in the Peruvian labor market. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, “Not All Old Age Is the Same”: Human Rights of Older Women and the Importance of the Gender Perspective(Universidad Externado de Colombia, 2023-05-01)The progressive incorporation of the gender approach to International Human Rights Law has allowed the recognition of the human rights of women and the identification of particular effects, such as sexual violence or femicide. Now, an intersectional approach is important to identify the diversity among women and recognize the situations that they go through due to certain conditions, such as, for example, age. The article focuses on the analysis and recognition of the human rights of older women, highlighting the continuity of gender violence and discrimination that begins in childhood and determines the reality of women when they reach old age, emphasizing in cases of sexual violence, forced motherhood, the role of care assumed by older women as well as their contribution to the search for justice in cases of forced disappearance. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Absence of an Engineering-Based Approach in the Construction of Discriminatory Stereotypes Toward Women of Color: A Case Study on the Drimer Mattress Commercial(Lectito Journals, 2025-11-28)Advertising has become a clear example of influence on the public imagination, as it shapes, arranges, and generates trends around specific contexts, topics, people, races, ideologies, and more. In 2018, the Drimer mattress commercial by Saga Falabella sparked significant controversy due to its racially stereotyped content and its impact on public perception, as well as the ethical concerns surrounding its production and dissemination. The central research question driving this study is: What are the ethical implications of the absence of an engineering-based approach in the construction of discriminatory stereotypes toward racialized women in advertising content, specifically in the case of the Drimer mattress commercial by Saga Falabella released in 2018?. The purposes of this research are, first, to analyze how the representation of stereotypes can negatively influence public perception and perpetuate discrimination in the absence of an engineering-based approach. Second, to discuss the ethical responsibility of companies to avoid harmful advertising practices and to promote inclusive and respectful representation. The methodology is qualitative, phenomenological in nature, with a socio-critical analysis; it is also emancipatory and propositional. The conclusion drawn from the ethical analysis of the Drimer mattress commercial, along with the review of academic studies on the representation of racial and discriminatory stereotypes in advertising, emphasizes the urgent need to address and correct these practices. It is essential that companies commit to the continuous training of their creative teams in matters of inclusion and diversity. Ethical responsibility in advertising is both an obligation and a strategic opportunity.3
