Item type:Publication, An analysis of the content and quality of corporate sustainability reports according to GRI standards in Peruvian mining companies supervised by the SMV in 2018: deficiencies and opportunities(Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, 2021-04-30)Corporate sustainability has become a distinctive factor of global leaders, who communicate sustainable development actions using corporate sustainability reports (CSR) in accordance with international reporting standards such as GRI. In Latin America there is a high variability in their adoption and the Peruvian mining sector has been facing credibility problems due to the incidence of socio-environmental conflicts in its projects, despite its recent consistency in the presentation of CSR. A statistical analysis of a sample of mining companies that submitted their CSR to the SMV in 2018 showed that half of them complied with presenting CSR; nonetheless, GRI principles are not strictly followed. Reports stress the social pillar over the environmental and economic ones; with an imbalance between positive, neutral and negative actions; and do not present their sources to make data auditable. An opportunity is presented for the creation of a specialized area in the SMV to review CSR. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Innovation Climate Scale: Psychometric analysis in Peruvian workers(Universidad Politecnica Salesiana, 2024-10-01)the changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic pushed organizations to attempt to remain current and competitive. Thus, the ability to respond to new demands and adapt to shifting conditions was an unavoidable requirement, which implies innovating in the development of their processes. In that sense, the growing importance of innovative work behaviors in the development of organizations has driven researchers to investigate mechanisms that foster such behaviors in workers. The objective of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Innovation Climate Scale (ICS). The instrumental study involved 273 Peruvian workers (50.916 % male) ranging in age between 22 and 76 years old (Mean = 45.224), employed for the most part in the private sector (75.092 %). The psychometric analysis explored item clarity and relevance by means of assessment by expert judges (content validity). Internal structure was assessed via confirmatory factorial analyses, both of oblique models and bi-factor. Finally, scoring reliability (alpha coefficient) and construct reliability (omega coefficient) were estimated. This study finds the ICS items to be clear and relevant, a greater empirical support for the unidimensional model as its internal structure, and an adequate reliability. In conclusion there is favorable evidence of validity and reliability for the application of the ICS in Peruvian companies as a useful tool to measure the innovative climate perceived by its workers, providing information for decision making and planning of innovation strategies and organizational creativity. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, People with Disabilities’ Representation in Peru in the News of Journalistic Digital Media in the Context of COVID-19(Universidad de Lima, 2023-12-01)This research analyzed how Peru's three most-read digital newspapers (El Comercio, La República, and Trome) represented disability between March 2020 and June 2022, using a mixed-methods approach. The article reviews a sample of online news (n = 300) quantitatively, through content analysis, and qualitatively by organizing discourses on disability into four types: danger, charity, integration, and social burden. When analyzing thematic sections, it was evident that the newspapers did not address disability from a political perspective and did not debate much about it. Childhood disability appeared (26.67%) in informative news pieces. Additionally, of the four identified types of discourse, the integration discourse was present in more than 50 % of the sample. Bivariate analysis showed several statistically significant intersections. For example, people with psychosocial disabilities and men are often represented as dangerous, while the charity model prevails when presenting people with physical disabilities in Trome. The results demonstrate the need to include demographic descriptors of individuals to assess disability representations properly.
