    Impact of business confidence on credit demand in Peru: An ARDL approach

    Resumen: El objetivo del presente artículo es verificar que en la estimación de la función de demanda de crédito del sector privado no solo son relevantes las tradicionales variables macroeconómicas, sino que también son relevantes las expectativas, en ese contexto, se verifica la importancia del índice de confianza empresarial como un determinante de la demanda de crédito al sector privado en Perú. El estudio identifica una relación de cointegración entre la demanda de crédito a empresas, producto bruto interno, tasa de interés y el índice de confianza empresarial entre el primer trimestre de 2003 y el cuarto trimestre de 2020, empleándose para ello un Modelo Autorregresivo con Retardos Distribuidos (ARDL). Se verifica la relevancia de la confianza empresarial como una variable para estimar la demanda de crédito a empresas.

    Human Development, Productivity, and Economic Growth

    We analyse the relationship between human development, productivity and economic growth. We found empirical evidence that supports the hypothesis that there is a direct causality relationship between human development and total factor productivity, a direct relationship of productivity growth on economic growth for the Peruvian economy in the period 1990-2019, and a cointegration relationship in the long-term. Our approach recommends human development and productivity policies in a free market economy, investments that expand innovation capabilities, productive and technological diversification for the development of the internal market, and the strengthening of social and institutional capital, creating an environment with a better quality of life to increase productivity and achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth in a capitalist and democratic economy.
