It is attempted to show the possibilities of symbolic representation under an interdisciplinary approach, from Art and Architecture applied to the peripheral problems of the environment and to their reconstruction from the territory, evidencing a symbolic heritage based on the production of cartographies that show ethical-aesthetic values as a possibility of representation of the visual memory contained in the belonging processes occurring in the city of Metropolitan Lima. How could we view these reconstruction processes made by our memory around the spaces where we live and participate or how could migration paths be evidenced from that perspective? A methodology is proposed based on three phases of recognition of a personal route of rearrangement of individual history which starts from topographic knowledge of the territory in the reconstruction of personal experiences, to develop then cartographic sketches for the viewing of their implication in the reading of migration processes, as well as collective problems. This methodology will be explained through the development of three specific projects. Individual visual and installation artworks «De Reducto n. 2 a la Portada de Maravillas: Hacia el Descanso», «La Ruta de 50 Años» and Group Project «CO(HABITAR)».It can be recognized that the viewing of migration processes, from their symbolic aspects, represent diverse variants of recognition of the events experienced in the territory implying various layers of a reading that before being illustrative could be viewed through the processes of artistic expression, depending on the different origins of their participants and their experiences in the city. Those processes reconstruct the time lived as a cartographic set that can be viewed.

Lasers Without Lost Cities: Using Drone Lidar to Capture Architectural Complexity at Kuelap, Amazonas, Peru
    (Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2020-02-20)
We report the results of drone lidar survey at a high-elevation archaeological site in the Chachapoyas region of Peruvian Amazonia. Unlike traditional airborne remote sensing, drone lidar produces very high-density measurements at a wide range of scan angles by operating at low altitudes and slow flight speeds. These measurements can resolve near vertical surfaces and novel dimensions of variability in architectural datasets. We show in a case study at Kuelap that the number of detected structures almost exactly matches the number reported from previous ground level surveys, and we use these data to quantify the relative circularity and size frequency distribution of architectural structures. We demonstrate variability in domestic architecture that was obscured in previous models produced using low-resolution remote sensing. Spatial analysis of these attributes produces new hypotheses about the site’s construction history and social organization.

Micromorphological analyses for the reconstruction of activities in the Maranga-Lima architectural complex

Playing the City. Childhood, Play and Space in Team 10’s Manifesto
    (Universidad de Sevilla, 2023-11-01)
The article examines the capacity of play to produce collective space, with the aim of highlighting its relevance and potential in the field of architecture. The interpretative reading of images and diagrams produced in the framework of the last three editions of CIAM (1953, 1956 and 1959) by Team 10 members, Aldo van Eyck and Alison and Peter Smithson, serves as a premise for placing the aforementioned objective in a disciplinary context. Through a historical-comparative research methodology that links the main objects of study with references and experiences from various disciplinary fields (with particular emphasis on the field of education), we proceed with the analysis of the images, identifying and proposing four conceptual axes that can be transferred to the contemporary work of architects: the celebration of the everyday, the use of the participatory language of urban photography, the understanding of the street as a stage for life, and the value of play in the production of collective space. Under the aforementioned premises, the text opens the possibility and the debate towards the integration of play as an index of valuation and projection of built space, highlighting, 70 years after CIAM (1953), the validity of the ideas of Team 10 and the disciplinary relevance of the multiple ways of doing architecture that the avant-garde group proposes through its individual and collective operations.

Early Ceremonial and Monumental Architecture in the Central Andes
    (Oxford University Press, 2026-05-21)
The emergence of social complexity in the central Andes was characterized by the presence of large and elaborated buildings of ritual nature throughout the region. In an almost 3,000-year time span (from 3000 to 200 BC), ritual/ceremonial architecture had a developmental sequence that included changes in scale, spatial organization, territorial scope, and associated iconography. These changes allow the evaluation of the sociopolitical dynamics that characterized the early times of Andean complex societies. Extended networks of ritual buildings scattered in different valleys characterized the beginnings of the sequence, with an emphasis on buildings' scale in some regions. Later, a more centralized spatial organization, with main buildings within larger complexes, suggests the increase of political centralization. This is reinforced during the first millennium BC, when buildings were smaller but more elaborated and used to appear as single or paired ceremonial centers for entire valleys or regions. The sequence ends when, due to political disaggregation, the central Andes is, again, characterized by extended networks of small (and sometimes fortified) ritual buildings.
