Item type:Publication, Naturam naturandum(Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón, 2021-07-05)The identification of God with substance on Spinoza’s writings comes from his interpretation of cartesian philosophy, in as much as he understands substance as necessary instead of taking it in its essentialist sense. Thus, there’s a scholastic distinction between substantial existence and necessary existence. This same distinction would be the one referred to in Descartes’ Principia Philosophiae concerning his definition of substance; nevertheless, Spinoza interprets them as equivalent. In this way, Spinoza identifies substance, on its essentialist sense, with the feature of necessity of the divine being; all of this in his Etica ordine geometrico demonstrata. This results on the identification of God with substance, because he is indeed the only substantial being that gathers all the distinct attributes expressed in many modes. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Stamile, N. Castilho Gomes, D. J. Almanza Torres) che ne analizza il pensiero e l’opera, in molte delle sue angolature. Metodología para el análisis publicitario desde una perspectiva integral(2025-03-01)The aim of this article is to propose a consistent methodological approach for the analysis of advertising discourse and consumption practices from a perspective that integrates market economy semiotically as context. It argues that there is an epistemological limitation in semiotic analysis of consumption due to methodological commitments during the analysis procedure. Thus, advertising and consumption semiotics, limited to the analysis of a single text (commercial, billboard, advertisement), assume their object of study as abstracted from social relations. From this “monotextual” viewpoint, the consumer society is conceived as a contextual production framework that does not participate in the semiotic interpretation of advertising materials. This article advocates for a semiotics capable of integrating advertising discourses, consumption practices, and various historical processes of the market economy by considering them as texts. To achieve this, it presents the methodological approach assuming an expanded notion of textuality, affirming the market economy as part of the production of meaning in advertising materials. Once the context (economy) is established as another text, three main logics (practical-critical/manufacture, utopian/semiocapitalism, and ludic/hyperconsumption) are identified between advertising discourse and consumption practices. Item type:Publication, AI IN JUSTICE: BALANCING EFFICIENCY AND EXPLICABILITY(Marcial Pons Librero, 2026-01-01)AI systems intended for use in judicial procedure carry a significant commitment to efficiency –understood from an instrumental perspective– for which accurate predictions are paramount. However, if an AI system has this objective, it is inevitable that explicability will inevitably decrease. This means that the program's algorithms are not comprehensible to humans, and often, neither is its output. From an AI ethics standpoint, AI systems applied in the field of justice should possess a significant degree of explicability, yet this compromises efficiency. Therefore, this paper aims to 1) highlight the tension between efficiency and explicability; and 2) argue that, even adopting an AI human-centred approach, opaque systems prioritizing efficiency could be justified, depending on the specific function of the system; specifically, in the greater or lesser degree of interference with the judicial decision that must be justified.1
