Item type:Publication, What does COVID-19 tell us about the Peruvian health system?(Taylor & Francis, 2020-12-07)Peru seemed well placed to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic as a country that had achieved sustained economic growth and moved towards achieving universal health coverage. However, Peru has one of the highest rates of transmission and mortality worldwide. This article analyses what the pandemic has unveiled with regards to the health system, arguing that a focus on meeting global development targets, including by promoting public-private partnerships in health, has distracted attention from the underlying structural causes of inequalities and enabled the continuation of a highly fragmented system, with access determined by income, gender, ethnicity and geography. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, God's existence, an obvious fact in Latin America?(Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, 2020-01-01)L’auteure interroge dans cet article le lien entre croyance en Dieu et enchantement en contexte latino-américain et principalement liménien. Les concepts élaborés dans des régions sécularisées par Congar, Kasper, Taylor, Vattimo, Casanova, Berger, entre autres, doivent être repensés pour analyser cette zone qui s’ouvre depuis peu et simultanément à la modernité et postmodernité. L’auteure analyse la situation à partir de données proportionnées par des enquêtes et à partir d’une étude récente qualitative sur la religion vécue (2015-2017). Elle conclut: L’existence de Dieu est une “croyance forte” pour les Liméniens mais le contenu de la croyance en Dieu est “faible”, variable selon les circonstances. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Étude sur l’enchantement et les processus de sécularisation au Pérou(SAGE Publishing, 2020-09-01)Le champ religieux péruvien (catholique et évangélique) se caractérise par la ferveur, la créativité et le dynamisme. Les spécialistes le considèrent comme spécifique d’une cosmovision enchantée. Cependant, certains d’entre eux, en particulier Casanova et aussi la hiérarchie catholique, notent des signes d’essoufflement et de transformation qu’ils considèrent comme un processus de sécularisation. Cet article se propose d’interpréter ces signes en contexte et de montrer comment ils révèlent un changement dans la relation fidèles-institutions religieuses. Celles-ci gardent leur présence et leur prestige et jouissent d’un pouvoir redéfini dans un environnement social et politique fragilisé, en mutation, mais elles ne structurent plus les rythmes vitaux individuels et les normes communautaires. Entre ferveur très souvent hors institution et brouillage de sphères, un processus de sécularisation est donc peu adéquat pour rendre compte des transformations religieuses en cours. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Célébrations et récits critiques au Pérou: Les tensions dans la commémoration du bicentenaire de l’indépendance (2016-2023)(Institut des Hautes Etudes de l'Amerique Latine (IHEAL), 2023-01-01)This article aims to analyze the commemoration of the bicentenary of Peru’s independence through the tension between different narratives of the nation. On the one hand, the narrative of the celebrated Peru, which tells the story of an entrepreneurial, successful, inclusive and global Peru; and on the other hand, the critical narratives, with accounts of the persistence of class and ethnic tensions, coupled with the lack of political representation. The context of the political, social and health crises of recent years has strengthened the critical narratives and eroded the celebratory narrative. These narratives have expressed different discourses, ranging from neoliberal multiculturalism to the rejection of the creóle nation. To address this issue, secondary and mixed sources will be reviewed: official documents of the Special Bicentennial Project, photos of demonstrations, political cartoons, and testimonies related to the narratives that emerged between 2016 and 2023.
