Nietzsche: Experimental Skepticism and the Question of Values
    (Springer, 2020-10-19)
After presenting the general state of the field regarding Nietzsche and skepticism in specialized studies, I explain why it is essential to contextualize this topic through a comparative analysis of Human, All Too Human and Beyond Good and Evil. Both books raise the issue of skepticism in relation to the possibility of knowledge, the end of metaphysics, and the problem of values. Nietzsche seeks to overcome epistemological skepticism by means of an alliance between philosophy and history in the so-called intermediate books Daybreak and The Gay Science, and then concludes in Beyond Good and Evil that skepticism is a good instrument in the pursuit of knowledge and of that which has value, and that precisely skepticism, as an instrument, is essential for philosophy, which is nonetheless responsible for not being skeptical about what has value.

Creating shared value and social innovation: Cases of success from South American entrepreneurial ventures
    (IGI Global, 2020-12-04)
This multiple case study of nine entrepreneurial ventures with social emphasis operating in Colombia, Peru, and Chile identifies vital elements that make these firms impactful in three dimensions: economic, environmental, and social. The results found that the founder's proximity to the social/ecological problem is a trigger to start up a business. The "purpose" is a motivational factor to both start up a business and keep the business during hard times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose is the fuel, but it does not guarantee the success of the company. The value proposition is the critical factor for success. These companies are continually re-inventing and changing their value proposition while keeping the purpose of the organization as a keystone. The authors shed light on a model for social entrepreneur-ship in South America.

Perceived value as a mediating variable in the theory of planned behavior: Application to the intention of completing a Master of Business Administration
    (EconJournals, 2020-07-10)
The objective of this research is to evaluate the intention to carry out an MBA in the Ecuadorian context through the model proposed by Azjen (1991); including the perceived value; as a mediating variable among the constructs (attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control) and intention. The research was framed in a quantitative perspective, with a cross section. The estimation of the model was made, through the multivariate statistical technique of structural equations, in order to evaluate the relationships between constructs. The analyzed population were undergraduate students from all the Universities of Ecuador, of which a sample of 756 students was surveyed. It was evident that all the hypothetical relationships established in the proposed model are significant with respect to the intention to carry out an MBA. The perceived value for completing an MBA influences the intention to complete an MBA by 0.894. Likewise, the perceived value was evaluated as a mediating variable, concluding in accordance with what was proposed by Ato and Vallejo (2011), which meets the different processes for verification. Finally, the correlations between attitude, subjective norms and control perception were reported to be significant. In addition, the R2 of the dependent variables was determined, hence, the intention to carry out an MBA reported 79.9%; Similarly, the perceived value was determined, obtaining 65.5%.Keywords: Theory of Planned Behavior (TCP); Perceived value; MBA graduate studies; Structural equations.JEL Classifications: M14, M20, M30DOI: 10.32479/irmm.9866

Rethinking global value chains in Latin America under COVID-19: Challenges and opportunities for exporting firms
    (EAFIT University, 2022-06-20)
This article examines the debate regarding regional integration and Global Value Chains (GVCs) in Latin America, and the challenges and opportunities that a deepening integration would have for exporting firms. The Latin American region had been progressively taking part in these integrated economic systems when COVID 19 hit. The pandemic has exposed weaknesses in its participation due to several factors, including its dependence on extra-regional hubs. Nevertheless, the disruption has brought back the need to consider the advantages of Latin American GVCs that could enhance the resilience and performance of regional firms. The review shows various benefits in carrying out a regional integration that is GVCs-oriented, similar to Asian and European countries. However, achieving the same level of regional GVC is not without challenges for firms, governments, and institutions. This article examines these alternatives in the context of an economic and health crisis.

Design and business methodologies to define the value proposition, promote innovation and successful entrepreneurship
(International Journal on Engineering Science and Technology, 2024-09-30)
In developing countries with a broad entrepreneurial spirit; some ventures are not successful because good business ideas that solve specific needs and in a sustainable manner are not chosen. This situation is because there is a lack of knowledge on how to apply design and business methodologies to define one of the most important aspects of the business: The value proposition. Promoting and developing tools that merge and synthesize existing methodologies with a practical approach to reduce the difficulties that entrepreneurs go through when formulating an innovative idea is fundamental and urgent, especially in emerging countries. Due to the importance of understanding the needs of the user and their context, design methodologies are taken as the basis for development. The result is used by the largest number of entrepreneurs, through a free Nooc, a short online course, which explains how to apply the methodological tools developed, massifying access to knowledge

The Role of the Leader for the Success of Businesses With Social and Environmental Impact: The Peruvian Case
    (Springer International Publishing, 2023-11-25)
The role of the founding leader in the creation and management of companies with social and environmental impact is of great value for the prosperity of these companies and their impact on their stakeholders. In emerging countries such as Peru, the contribution of microenterprises that make significant changes in society and the environment is essential for the economy. Therefore, this study is important and transcendent to analyze the characteristics that make possible a good leadership style for the success of a company. This chapter is based on the case of twenty-one Peruvian companies that have achieved a significant impact, which are aligned with the SDGs and are an important example for the generation of other companies in Latin America and in emerging populations and with great social needs.
