Exploring the effects of innovation strategies and size on manufacturing firms’ productivity and environmental impact
    (MDPI AG, 2021-03-02)
In economies that are based on natural resources, efforts to achieve sustainability still seem unclear, especially in manufacturing companies. As a result, from a business perspective, many manufacturers have adopted various strategies to maintain their competitiveness in line with environmental regulations. In addition to product and process innovation, we have analyzed innovation based on product–service innovation (PSI), or servitization, which is seen as key to promoting more resource-efficient economies. This study examines the effects of innovation strategies on productivity and environmental impact. Based on data extracted from the National Innovation Survey of the manufacturing industries of Peru, a sample of 791 companies were analyzed. Our findings indicate that, although only a few companies carry out product and process innovation and especially product–service innovation, when they do, they have a positive effect on both productivity and environmental impact. However, this relationship is affected by the size of the company. Thus, the innovation strategies have a greater positive effect on environmental impact in large companies than companies with fewer than 50 employees. Finally, despite the importance of product–service innovation, it seems that this strategy is not yet established in Peruvian manufacturing companies. Given the positive effect on productivity and environmental impact, we conclude by emphasizing the importance of establishing public policies aimed at disseminating and promoting this type of innovation, with specific support for companies with fewer than 50 employees.

Financial Inclusion in Peru: Appraisal and Perspectives
(Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, 2023-07-31)
Financial inclusion is a relevant matter that is constantly being looked upon, given its influence in reducing poverty and enabling the low-income population to access financial products and services, thus improving their living condition. This research aims to analyze the evolution of financial inclusion in Peru during the last seven years (2016-2022);also, it takes into consideration information from secondary source databases, such as reports from the World Bank, the Superintendencia de Banca y Seguros, and the Banco Central de Reserva del Perú. The method used has a descriptive and explanatory design. The findings of the research provide evidence that 56% of the Peruvian population has access to financial services (64% in urban areas and 31% in rural areas), which falls below the goal of 75% set by the Peruvian government. This gap can be attributed to customer service costs, including in-person service or adequate infrastructure for better service (access limitations), and poor financial education (limiting broader usage).

Barriers and limitations to the development of a telemental health service for workers in Peru- A user-centered approach
    (Public Library of Science, 2025)
Over the past decade, the surge in digital healthcare services has transformed traditional healthcare, requiring multidisciplinary engagement to adapt to the digital realm. The rise of telehealth services, particularly amid COVID-19, has been widely embraced globally, but its implementation in Peru faces unique challenges, including infrastructure issues and economic constraints. Therefore, this research aims to identify the barriers and limitations in developing a telemental health service for screening, evaluation, and timely referral of vulnerable occupational groups. Materials and methods A qualitative study was undertaken. We adopted a phenomenological approach, utilizing semi-structured interviews with vulnerable occupational groups and decision-makers. We conducted 23 interviews: 5 providers of telemental health services, 5 teachers users, 5 police officers users and 5 health professionals of telemental health services, and 3 decision-makers involved in telemental health regulation in Peru.; exploring experiences, barriers, and facilitators related to mental telemental health. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim, furthermore, a thematic analysis was done to identify key themes. Results The research identified barriers and limitations to developing a telemental health services screening service based on the experiences of workers, some of them were related to user dissatisfaction, emphasizing the need for personalized solutions beyond technical aspects. Scheduling issues call for flexibility and improved communication. Healthcare professionals’ varied experiences highlight the necessity for targeted training, while successful telemental health services integration demands addressing resource limitations through a comprehensive approach. Conclusion The study advocates for a holistic, user-centred paradigm in telemental health services implementation, addressing both technological aspects and human and systemic elements. Multifaceted challenges inherent in telemental health, particularly in Peru, emphasize the need for strategic interventions by stakeholders. The study calls for a policy shift towards enhancing telemental health equity through system-level changes and eliminating structural barriers for marginalized populations.
