Determinants of the sustainable internationalization and risk-taking factors in public commercial banks
    (Wiley, 2021-02-01)
Banking activities have crossed the border and spread worldwide. Internationalization is known as the need of the day for sustainability in height competitive banking sector trends. Is there any effect of internationalization on profitability to sustain in a competitive market or just increases risk factors? Here, the study investigates the need and effect of internationalization on bank risk in developing country like Pakistan by using seven public commercial banks' quarterly data that are being taken for the duration from 2007 to 2016. The study constructs hypotheses to justify the significance or insignificance relation of risk with internationalization variables and some other bank‐specific variables that independently affect the risk‐taking of internationalized banks. The main variables are Z‐score for risk measurement and to evaluate the degree of internationalization. The study used foreign loan ratio and foreign income ratios. To support our work, the study also constructed some control variables like size, income diversification, and listed. We find that internationalization is associated with higher income earning in significant and positive relation with risk.

One step back, two steps forward: internationalization strategies and the resilient growth of entrepreneurial ecosystems
    (Taylor and Francis, 2022-01-01)
The concept of resilience has been recently integrated into the entrepreneurial ecosystem (EE) approach, as regional economies are pressured to raise their robustness against exogenous and endogenous crises. However, the Global South, particularly Latin American countries, has unique business dynamics and paradoxes due to the informal economy, weak institutions, low level of innovation, yet high level of entrepreneurial activity and economic growth. In this study, we conducted thirty-five semi-structured expert interviews in the capital cities of Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. In doing so, we aim to understand the vision and strategies regarding ecosystem development in those territories, from public and private actors. Furthermore, we apply an evolutionary perspective to identify challenges or barriers to achieving resilient growth, and how to overcome these obstacles. Finally, this study extends the current literature on EE by adding three dynamics for developing resilient EEs; early internationalization strategies, digitalization, and trust-building.

Do Technology Startups Replicate Internationalization Patterns From Big Companies? Evidence From Latin America
(UIKTEN - Association for Information Communication Technology Education and Science, 2023-11-01)
This article discusses the internationalization of technology startups in Latin America. The study analyzed 121 startups from five countries using a quantitative approach and data was collected from the Crunchbase platform. Results indicate that Argentinean, Chilean, and Colombian startups have faster internationalization trajectories than their Brazilian and Mexican counterparts, which tend to remain local during initial stages following the Uppsala model pattern. Our study on startup internationalization in Latin America yielded comparable results to big tech companies from these countries. However, we noticed that Mexican startups have better access to financial support receiving double the investment compared to other organizations. These finding provide valuable insights into promotive international entrepreneurship in emerging countries and can inform public policy accordingly.
