This event quickly found its way into the literary works of the time, including Luis Antonio de Luis Antonio de Oviedo y Herrera's epic poem Vida de Santa Rosa de Santa María (Madrid, 1711). This article examines how the construction of the wall shaped the portrayal of the first American saint and the Lima community in the poem.2
