Item type:Publication, Scientific mapping on the convergence of innovation and sustainability (innovability): 1990–2018(Emerald, 2020-09-17)Purpose Innovation and sustainability are key in today’s competitive world. It is no longer possible to conceive an organization that has not incorporated these two elements for it to become successful. The longitudinal bibliometric study seeks to examine the topography of innovation and sustainability to determine whether there is already a terminological integration that could be defined as innovation capability in a sustainable way. The objective of this work is to identify the growth trajectories of the literature, the countries considered as knowledge nodes, the most influential authors, the classification of journals, clusters and collaborative networks measured by co-citation, the analysis by keywords, countries and knowledge areas. Design/methodology/approach The study is developed under the bibliometric approach, and the period 1990–2018 was considered. The steps taken were as follows: 16 keywords of each term were identified and selected in 3 methodological layers by a panel of experts; an algorithm was designed and applied to identify these selected keywords in the titles, abstracts and keywords using terms in the Web of Science (WoS) of Clarivate Analytics to contrast them; and a review in specialized journals was carried out in the first quartile (Q1) of the WoS until 2018. Findings The most relevant finding of the study lies in the sustained growth of the convergence of the terms innovation and sustainability. In addition, the longitudinal review of the two concepts also shows that innovation is directly linked to sustainability, suggesting that the convergence of concepts and practices becomes part of the strategy of companies seeking to be competitive and sustainable. Practical implications At the management level, this research seeks to present a definition of innovability based on the convergence of the concepts of innovation and sustainability. This new concept can be applied as a management strategy for companies seeking to be competitive and sustainable. Theoretical and practical evidences that reinforce this construct are presented. At the academic level, the manuscript shows a longitudinal review on innovation and sustainability, a relevant scientific mapping and, finally, a new theoretical and practical concept is proposed that seeks to create strategies for competitiveness in a sustainable way. At the level of society, the study contributes to the sustainable development goals. Originality/value The results show that a field of studies on innovation is emerging that has a high potential to position itself as a new space for research. The concept of “innovability” is proposed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Research on social responsibility of small and medium enterprises: a bibliometric analysis(Institute for Ionics, 2022-09-01)Research on corporate social responsibility continues to advance in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), although the results remain fairly contentious and fragmented. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability today are strong trends in the corporate world. This article discusses the literature on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) research in SMEs with the goal of understanding the history and research patterns over the last 20 years based on the review of 120 papers. We describe the contribution of literature in terms of epistemological orientation and identify the state-of-the-art of CSR research by linking it to a bibliometric analysis. In this paper, we contribute to the literature by finding a growing interest of CSR in Europe and North America and a relative increase in CSR empirical studies vis-a-vis a relative decrease in descriptive papers. According to our results, we rank CSR research in SMEs at a growing stage but with theoretical limitations when it comes to evolving into a mature stage and, eventually, provide a reference point for the theoretical and methodological positioning of future research. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Planetary health and health education in Brazil: towards better trained future health professionals(MDPI, 2022-08-01)Brazil is Latin America’s largest country and has a strong economy, but it is also characterised by many inequalities. These are very conspicuous in the health sector, particularly in health education, which is expected to modernise according to the planetary health (PH) perspective. This paper describes the health education scenario in Brazil and undertakes an analysis of the postgraduate health programmes and policies in place, identifying the extent to which these support the cause of PH. To achieve this goal, this paper deploys a bibliometric analysis to gain a better understanding of the research streams related to higher education and PH. In addition, it presents and discusses selected case studies in the field and cross-checks documents from the Brazilian Ministry of Education against five domains of PH in education. The results indicate that despite some progress to date and the fact that some programmes are in place, there is a perceived need for policies and efforts from education organisations towards connecting PH principles in the education of current and future health professionals. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Trends in the literature about the adoption of digital banking in emerging economies: A bibliometric analysis(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2024-12-01)This study examines the trends in the literature about adopting digital banking in emerging economies. It is based on the concepts of digital transformation and technological adoption, which significantly impact the development of the banking industry. A quantitative approach was used through a bibliometric analysis using data from Scopus to achieve the objective. The search equation allowed 118 publications to be extracted and analyzed. The results show that digital banking in emerging countries is a growing field of research that has driven the of new information technologies. The perceived usefulness of digital banking is a key factor in promoting its adoption in the market. Attributes such as security and trust were identified as affecting the level of user satisfaction. Most studies are based on technological adoption, where perceived risk, usefulness, and ease of use are key to understanding the intention to use these technologies. Some countries’ concerns about financial inclusion, cyber security, and trust in financial technology are evident. While digital banking has the potential to increase the coverage of financial services, there are concerns about cybersecurity risks and user data protection. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Addressing the challenges posed by energy poverty in Latin American countries(Springer Nature, 2024-12-01)Many of the energy systems functioning across the developing world are poorly designed and largely inadequate to meet a country's commercial and domestic energy needs. This is especially so in Latin America, where poverty trends have been exacerbated by limited access to energy, which could be used towards supporting industrial and small-scale commercial activities. This has characterised the widespread trend of energy poverty. This phenomenon poses a major barrier towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing climate change, since lack of access to reliable energy generation systems hinders the development of economic activities and limits the comfort of living conditions. This paper reports on a study aimed at catering to a better understanding of the challenges related to energy poverty in Latin America and identifying some of the tools that may be deployed to address them. The methodological procedures used were bibliometric analysis and survey. The main findings of this research evidence that reducing energy poverty in Latin American countries is crucial to alleviating household costs since a considerable part of family income is used to pay the energy needs. Less use of coal, greater access to electricity—including those from renewable generation—as well as the use of technologies and programs subsidized by governments would significantly contribute to increasing the Latin American citizens' quality of life and achieving the SDGs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Smart cities and urban dimensions to ensure sustainable development: A bibliometric analysis(Emerald Publishing, 2024-12-09)The multidimensional complexity of urban settlements is increasing and the problem of spaces and territories brought to the scale of smart cities is a critical global issue. This study aims to analyse the scientific production in the Web of Science (WoS) on the relationship between smart cities and the eight urban dimensions defined by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the period 1990 to 2021, in order to establish which countries lead the knowledge related to the search for sustainable living conditions for people and how this knowledge contributes to improving stakeholders' decision-making. Design/methodology/approach: The methodological steps followed in the study were: (1) Identification and selection of keywords. (2) Design and application of an algorithm to identify these selected keywords in titles, abstracts and keywords using WoS terms to contrast them. (3) Data processing was performed from Journal Citation Report (JCR) journals during the year 2022. Findings: This study identified the authors, institutions and countries that publish the most globally on the topic of Smart Cities. The acceleration in the integration of new technologies and their impact on population conglomerates and their relationship with urban dimensions were also analysed. The evidence found indicates that the USA and China are leading in this field. Originality/value: This bibliometric study was designed to analyse a knowledge space not addressed in the scientific literature referred to the relationship between the concept of smart cities and the urban dimensions established by the WEF, the identification of new technologies that are converging to promote developments of new ways of managing urban dimensions and propose new knowledge spaces. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Comprehensive Bibliometric Analysis and Future Research Directions in the Nexus of Sustainable Business Practices and Turnover Intention(Elsevier Ltd, 2023-12-01)This study aims to investigate the complex interplay between sustainable business practices (SBP) and turnover intention (TI), emphasizing how sustainability initiatives impact employee retention and organizational commitment. Methodology: A bibliometric analysis of 325 articles from the Scopus database, spanning 2013–2023, was conducted using Bibliometrix in R-Studio, systematically addressing five pivotal research questions related to SBP and TI. Articles were chosen based on predefined search terms, focusing on SBP, job satisfaction, and TI, and adhered to strict inclusion/exclusion criteria. Findings: Organizations adopting SBP witness a significant decrease in TI, attributed primarily to enhanced job satisfaction and fortified organizational commitment. Concurrently, the literature on SBP and TI has seen an evolutionary shift from predominantly environmental concerns, such as carbon emissions and waste management, to broader socio-economic sustainability dimensions encompassing social responsibility, community engagement, and economic growth. International collaboration in this realm has proven vital, with significant contributions from countries such as Spain, China, and the UK. Leadership efficacy, supportive organizational culture, and emphasis on work-life balance are pivotal in strengthening the SBP-TI bond. Implications for theory and practice: Beyond academic interest, understanding the SBP-TI relationship is crucial for managers and policymakers. Effective SBP integration within organizational strategies can simultaneously promote sustainability and reduce turnover. This emphasizes the practical need for leadership, a supportive culture, and work-life balance to achieve environmental and socio-economic sustainability goals while retaining employees. Originality and value: By presenting an integrated perspective on SBP and TI, this research provides invaluable insights for organizations aiming to harmonize their sustainability objectives with employee retention strategies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Entrepreneurial orientation: a bibliometric analysis and comparative literature review between Latin America and the USA(Inderscience Publishers, 2025-12-14)Most studies on entrepreneurial orientation (EO) have focused on developed countries, leaving emerging economies relatively underexplored despite their high entrepreneurial activity. This paper seeks to systematise the literature on EO across Latin America and the USA. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 75 manuscripts from the Scopus database, complemented by a comparative literature analysis of 36 relevant papers. The results show that 75 articles were published across 53 journals, among which the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development accounts for five articles and 203 citations. Moreover, most of the manuscripts were published ten years ago or less, with a peak of publications in 2020, mainly from the USA. A thematic map revealed five key clusters of research: competitive advantage, entrepreneurship, internationalisation, sustainability, and management practices, whose content the literature review helped to clarify. From these findings, several research propositions were formulated, offering future directions for EO studies in emerging economies.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Clustering green finance, fintech, and digital technologies for sustainable operations(Springer Nature, 2026-12-01)The of this study is to provide a more comprehensive and updated analysis of how green finance enabled by financial technology (Fintech) and digital innovation, contributes to sustainability in economic and operational systems. In particular, the study examines how digital technologies support sustainable operations by facilitating inclusion, improving resource allocation, and accelerating structural change towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Using a mixed-methods approach that combines bibliometric analysis with a systematic literature review. A comprehensive analysis of 67 articles published between 2022 and 2025 was conducted. The findings identify four dominant research clusters in which digital technologies, innovation, regulation and international cooperation play a prominent role as drivers of structural change. Fintech and institutionality (cluster 1), is a driver of sustainable banking performance (cluster 2), there are dynamics of natural resources and a Fintech-mediated energy transition (cluster 3), and Fintech and Start-ups collaboration is a driver of social sustainability (cluster 4). The report also reveals significant findings between developed and developing countries. This study adopts a mixed method combining bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review. The results further reveal notable differences between developed and developing countries. China leads with 1,140 total citations and an average of 43.8 per article, while Australia has the highest average impact of 56.6. Green finance and Fintech have been identified as pivotal in promoting sustainability, particularly in developing countries where environmental and social challenges are most acute. Financial technology not only optimises financial processes, but also drives the democratisation of financial services and green investment, playing a key role in the transition to a resilient and sustainable economy. The combination of digital and sustainable solutions is essential to achieving development goals. However, it is vital that this initiative be implemented in conjunction with responsible management of natural resources, effective public policies, and the presence of skilled human capital.Scopus© Citations 1 1
