Item type:Publication, Dealing with COVID-19 through employee stock ownership plans(IGI Global, 2021-11-01)In this chapter, the authors argue that far from the shocking decision of firing employees to leverage their short-term liquidity, organizations may draw other innovative options such as giving company shares to their employees. Employee stock ownership (ESO) plans have the potential to secure financial liquidity for firms while simultaneously providing social inclusion as well as empowerment to people, relating their efforts directly to firms' performance and driving the economic system into a shared capitalism. However, while companies may be solving their financial constraints through ESO, the authors identified a trade-off related to the traditional position of hegemony of firms. They argue that the decision to share the risk through paying wages using firms' stock options derives in a progressive detriment of power and control that some organizations would not be willing to suffer. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Snowball sampling and Facebook: how social media can help access hard-to-reach populations(Cambridge University Press, 2021-10-18)The snowball sampling method (SSM) is one of the most widely used methods to collect information about hard-to-reach populations and in low-information contexts. This article argues that SSM can be enhanced by the use of Facebook in at least three ways. This social-networking site helps to address some of the inherent limitations of SSM by learning about local contexts and identifying principal political actors, by gathering background information about and establishing contact with them, and by triangulating information they provide and reaching out to additional key informants. Thus, this article shows how Facebook can provide leverage in overcoming the problem of biased samples and offers concrete empirical illustrations from research on local politics in Latin American countries. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sustainable commercial aviation: What determines air travellers’ willingness to pay more for sustainable aviation fuel?(Elsevier Ltd, 2022-11-10)While low carbon jet fuels (LCJF) offer a viable alternative to conventional jet fuels in terms of reducing aviation emissions, the higher fuel costs may be passed on to customers in the form of increased ticket prices. However, there has been little research into the public's willingness to pay (WTP) for LCJF use. Our study addresses this gap by exploring citizen's perceptions of, attitudes toward, and willingness to pay a premium ticket price. We conducted an online survey among UK citizens (N = 1008) who flew at least once a year. We used ordered logistic regression to predict the factors that influence WTP for LCJF. The findings confirmed the existence of three factors that explain air travellers' WTP: social trust, perceived risks, and attitude. Although the overall perception of the benefits of LCJF outweighs the associated risks, the level of awareness of LCJF use is rather low. Despite a favourable attitude toward LCJF use, the majority of respondents were unwilling to pay more for carbon-neutral air travel. Our research contributes to and expands the literature on the current debates about acceptance and WTP for LCJF and energy transitions. Additionally, the findings of our study encourage public and corporate managers to leverage the identified key factors to inform and structure campaigns to increase the acceptability of LCJF use. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
