Departamento de Economía, 1997)Peru faces an increasing desequilibrium in its trade balance on the nineties, in spite of an expansion on its exports´ value. In part these deficits are presented with our commercial partners of the Andean Community and Mercosur.This paper presents a disaggregated analysis of the Peruvian trade with the Andean Community and Mercosur, trying to identify some peculiarities since in several years we had positive balances in the trade with other extra-regional blocks.Also, we present the sectors with a significant intraindustry trade, as often as the exports with more value added go toward Latin America. Finally, we have estimated indexes reflecting the comparative advantages of the trade which contribute to contrast the specialization pattern with the world and the one with the Andean Community and Mercosur.In short, we compare the trade patterns with the regional and extra-regional partners in an open economic context. This is an empirical approach which tries to identify difficulties that must be resolved to improve our insertion into the world economy. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The paper looks for a first group view vision of them. The Peruvian participation in these agreements is different in terms of compromises, because of its position in each scheme of integration and the weight we have in them. As we know, there are most pronounced asymmetries inner each block about the level of development and advantages, that takes us to analyze the commitments maintained in each of the agreements in terms of schedules and schemes of liberalization. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

La primera sección presenta una discusión teórica del desarrollo humano basado en la integración desde el punto de vista físico, económico y estatal; la segunda sección evalúa la definición de integración con los elementos del marco teórico; la tercera sección está dedicada a presentar los hechos estilizados y evaluar si existe un proceso de integración intra e interregional en el contexto peruano desde una perspectiva macroeconómica; la cuarta sección muestra la evolución de las desigualdades en la última década y lleva a cabo una descomposición de los grupos relevantes para el análisis regional desde una perspectiva microeconómica. Item type:Publication, Flattening the Andes : growth points, spread effects and perverse institutions(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Fondo Editorial, 2014)In this paper we explore in part 1 the historical roots of the marginalisation of the highlands, and with that the inadequate or perverse presence of the state. In part 2 we show the deficiencies of this model in the pre-conditions for trickle-down, and the weak or perverse nature of local politics. In part 3 we use this analysis to explore a remarkable contemporary instance of developmental initiative in the highlands, which has ultimately been intensely disappointing in its outcomes, and we ask what the barriers and failures were: this is the case of Espinar. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Fondo Editorial, 1997)La Investigación cuantifica los volúmenes de comercio intraindustrial del Perú con el resto de países del Grupo Andino y con los integrantes de Mercosur buscando aportar evidencia empírica para contribuir a la tomar la mejor opción, disminuyendo la carga ideológica del debate. La propuesta del autor considera como complementarios los esfuerzos de integración con el Grupo Andino y Mercosur (con productos de mayor valor agregado), que debe formar parte de una estrategia global y diferenciada con otros acuerdos de integración extrarregionales, compatible con los planteamientos de regionalismo abierto.
