Item type:Publication, Nietzsche: Experimental Skepticism and the Question of Values(Springer, 2020-10-19)After presenting the general state of the field regarding Nietzsche and skepticism in specialized studies, I explain why it is essential to contextualize this topic through a comparative analysis of Human, All Too Human and Beyond Good and Evil. Both books raise the issue of skepticism in relation to the possibility of knowledge, the end of metaphysics, and the problem of values. Nietzsche seeks to overcome epistemological skepticism by means of an alliance between philosophy and history in the so-called intermediate books Daybreak and The Gay Science, and then concludes in Beyond Good and Evil that skepticism is a good instrument in the pursuit of knowledge and of that which has value, and that precisely skepticism, as an instrument, is essential for philosophy, which is nonetheless responsible for not being skeptical about what has value. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Do executioners have souls? La última tarde and La hora final: Representations of the "Insurgent" character in Peruvian fiction cinema(Springer, 2020-12-17)This chapter identifies the different approaches to representing the "insurgent" in Peruvian fiction cinema, highlighting the tensions between cinema as a cultural industry and the national discussion of memory about the armed conflict of 1980-2000. The complexity of the characters in La última tarde [One Last Afternoon] (2017) by Joel Calero and La hora final [The Last Hour] (2017) by Eduardo Mendoza is analyzed in comparison to other representations of the "insurgent" in the country's cinematic tradition, and in the relation to the discourses on memory that form part of the paradigm of human rights. It also discusses the limitations that the production and exhibition conditions of fiction films in Peru bring to the cinematic representation of this specific character type. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A review of the school-community relation(2021-01-01)Who would put into question the existence or even the importance of what we call education? It is something taken for granted, which must happen because that is just how things are. It would seem that education has gone through the process of its own naturalization, which has established an imperative need to answer the question on how to educate, forgetting not only to answer but also to ask other preliminary questions surrounding the meanings of educating. 2 Without a doubt, taking these steps backwards leads us to face education from a philosophical perspective. In this regard, we would like to recover Augusto Salazar Bondy's character, a Peruvian philosopher and educator, in order to ponder some of the meanings of education and the relations between school and community, starting from the educative-programmatic project of the 1972 Education Reform and, at the same time, to carry out a review of his proposals, from the point of view of some contemporary accounts on what making school means. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The Sino-Peruvian relation and the construction of the official narrative of Peru as a hub management(2022-05-11)This article discusses the driving forces behind the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Peru. Accordingly, the importance of bilateral cooperation in the development of Sino-Peruvian relations is being assessed. Given that the Chinese presence in Peru is an extended phenomenon, the article attempts to determine the extent of China’s influence on bilateral relations and its importance in building the official narrative of Peruvian decision-makers regarding the trans-Pacific image they aim to project in relation to China. For this reassion the article recurs to the productive notion of power, focusing on intangible elements mainly to enquire by the discursive constructions of the Peruvian technocrat agents and related practices embedded into the Sino-Peruvian relation −strongly led by the Asian country. The article concludes that the main topics of bilateral cooperation make it possible to single out four stages of China’s international policy towards Peru. Even though the Sino-Peruvian relation does not ground either can be explained exclusively on economic criteria or an institutional basis, the current associativity between both countries answer to the reciprocal knowledge triggered by migratory waves of the Chinese in moments of economic and political stress. At the same time, the discourses and narratives created by Peruvian technocrats acknowledge the country’s trans-Pacific identity; China’s weight in this identification is defining for the narrative of Peru as a bridge country in the 1990s and South America’s operational hub in Asia in the 21st century. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Flow/Fund Theory and Rural Livelihoods(Springer International Publishing, 2023-01-01)The concept of social metabolism and its relation with ecological distribution conflicts is a key theme in the work of Joan Martinez-Alier and the Barcelona school. It creates a bridge between the fields of ecological economics and political ecology. Following Georgescu-Roegen’s fund-flow theory of economic production, the present chapter has the objective to illustrate with a case study at the commodity frontier of the Andes-Amazon region in Peru, the relation between material flows and ecological distribution conflicts. The systemic and participatory approaches we have adopted can facilitate the prevention of social conflicts. Decision-makers should be aware of different perspectives hold by diverse social groups and their relation with the biophysical reality, and acknowledging them as part of social metabolism studies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
