Item type:Publication, En defensa de la justicia: explicando la improbable inaplicación judicial del indulto y derecho de gracia del condenado por graves violaciones a los derechos humanos Alberto Fujimori(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Fondo Editorial, 2020-11-26)Alberto Fujimori, Peruvian ex-president and perpetrator of human rights violations, was released from prison due to a presidential pardon in 2017. He was also granted immunity from prosecution. Although the political branches and the majority of the population supported these measures, as shown by public opinion polls, within months domestic courts overturned them completely, relying on standards set by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. This is the most unlikely result, comparatively. The article examines what could explain this pro human rights accountability behaviour in the judiciary. It argues that the outcome could be the product of two processes initialised during the Peruvian transition: Judicial empowerment (independence and power gains) and legal culture shift from positivism to neo-constitutionalism. Both are defined and analysed with reference to transitional justice and socio-legal studies scholarship. The article further seeks to identify the conditions under which Inter-American conventionality control doctrine could have a strong domestic impact. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Presiones sobre el suelo: un panorama ecológico económico del sector agropecuario en Perú, 2000-2015(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Instituto de la Naturaleza, Tierra y Energía (INTE-PUCP), 2022-08-25)Given the development of the different streams of innovation in the agricultural sector worldwide, it is relevant to contrast the progressive vision of economic growth and increase in agricultural productivity with other holistic visions. These integral visions propose increasingly better tools that seek to emphasize human relationships with nature and, by this way, measure their socio-environmental effects and propose new forms of relationship. The following study presents the perspectives of innovation for the Peruvian agricultural sector and applies the Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism (MuSIASEM) which results show the sustainability of the sector, particularly an overview of soil degradation. This tool will provide a quantitative description of the pesticide and insecticide flows generated by agriculture in Peru and, in the same way, it will propose an explanation of their effects on the environment. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Traducción, adaptación y validación del inventario de burnout de Copenhagen para Perú(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2022-07-04)The goal is to adapt and analyze the psychometric properties of the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) in workers of the national domestic violence helpline (Peru). Two measurements were taken in the same population (n=160). Translation-back translation was applied. Internal consistency was assessed with Cronbach’s alpha, corrected Item-Total Correlation and omega coefficient. Test-retest was performed in the second measurement. Convergent validity was examined with Pearson correlations with the Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale, and the Fear of Covid-19 Scale. Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed that the three-correlated factor model has the best fit. Regarding reliability, adequate coefficients were found (alpha: >.82, omega: >.91 and intraclass correlation: > .66). The CBI scales are correlated with the Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale, and the Fear of Covid-19 Scale, and they are also significantly associated with self-reported health status, but only work-related burnout is associated with self-reported workload. As a result, the CBI shows excellent psychometric properties. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Medios de vida y estrategias de adaptación basados en la migración por familias afectadas por los deterioros ambientales en comunidades alto andinas «Ya no hay vida aquí; por eso se fueron.»(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Instituto de Ciencias de la Naturaleza, Territorio y Energías Renovables (INTE-PUCP), 2020-02-07)In Andean communities, many families whose livelihoods depend on farming and raising livestock are exposed to increasing degradation of their ecosystem and to food insecurity. The objective of this paper is to examine the extent to which families use migration strategies, based on multi residence and migratory circulation, to diversity their sources of income and mitigate the consequences of ecological degradation on their living conditions. The results are part of a socio-demographic research conducted in 2015 and 2016, which focused on domestic strategies for addressing environmental problems in a sample of 203 families living in five high Andean communities around Lake Titicaca. Most of families have migrant members and young adults between ages 20 and 35 represent the largest number of them. Nevertheless, their departuredoes not constitute an explicit form of adaptation to the ecological degradation. The quest for better conditions and opportunities in urban territories as well as interests related to their life stage and cycle, are the main determinants of their migration decisions. Despite the ecological problems affecting families, the desire for personal autonomy of the migrants is the main impetus for migration and there is no family organization based on multi residence and circular migration as an explicit livelihood for adaptation to environmental deterioration in rural areas. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Dilemas Morales en Individuos de Tres Grupos Indígenas de la Amazonía Peruana(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2026-07-08)The purpose of this study was to identify moral dilemmas specific to three Amazonian indigenous cultures, highlighting the universality of the human moral experience while emphasizing that this recognition does not detract from the importance of acknowledging and appreciating our cultural diversity. Participants included four indigenous peoples – three men and one woman – from the Asháninka, Awajún, and Shipibo-Konibo indigenous groups, from the Ucayali region, in Perú. Using a qualitative methodology and taking into account the complex relationship between reason, rationality, and worldview, this study distinguishes between universal and particular elements. It presents examples of dilemmas shared by individuals from the Shipibo-Konibo, Asháninka, and Awajún Indigenous peoples, highlighting their moral concerns related to cultural issues as well as their engagement with universal moral principles. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Orientación al futuro y bienestar psicológico: desentrañando la dinámica en una universidad de Lima(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2025-07-24)Focusing on our future is often associated with well-being, benefiting both the individual and society. However, the literature suggests that this relationship is not always consistent. Moreover, while this relationship has been studied in Lima from a subjective well-being perspective, it has not yet been explored using a psychological well-being framework. This study explores this relationship using Seigner’s, Nurmi, and Poole’s ‘Future Orientation’ and Diener et. al.’s ‘Flourishing’ constructs. Using data from 445 students from a Lima university (mean age=21.80; 64.27% females) and structural equation models, our results suggest that having a sense of internal control over one’s future career (b=.29, SE=.24, p<.01), approaching one’s future career with hope (b=.27, SE=.14, p<.01), and being optimistic about the realization of future family plans (b=.27, SE=.13, p<.05) are positively related to flourishing. Implications, limitations, and future research directions are discussed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Efectos psicosociales de la Comisión de la Verdad en Brasil(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2024-01-08)A Truth Commission (TC) was carried out in Brazil (2012-2014) to investigate human rights violations perpetrated by state agents, especially during the military dictatorship (1964-1985). TCs are supposed to help societies on the reconstruction of social cohesion after authoritarian or violent periods. We conducted three studies with undergraduate students and adult samples between 2014 and 2017. Evaluating the TC as effective was related to higher punctuations on the variables of social cohesion, even controlling the effects of political positioning. The TC effectiveness perception was associated with the emotional reaction (both, negative or positive) and a positive attitude towards remembering the past. Nonetheless, we found some different results across the three studies. These differences are discussed.1
