Item type:Publication, Ecoficciones y procesos artísticos: la producción de obras artísticas y la relación simbólica con el territorio habitado y construido(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2024-05-06)This article intends to explain the different possibilities of representation of what we will call “fictional ecosystems”, being imaginary ecosystems that are developed through visual representation, highlighting their importance to establish, develop and maintain a connection with the inhabited territory, as fundamental relationship to build a society that questions the subjectivities established in the coexistence with the natural, humanized and collective environment. Thus, an explanatory line is developed, which answers the following question, can elements of visual representation be used for the creation of “fictional ecosystems” that help to question the relationship that we build with our natural and humanized ecosystems in the contemporary environment and its corresponding problems? The answer is built through a methodology created using two phases of analysis. An explanatory line is drawn through artistic proposals made in Peru, developed on different supports and using various means, such as painting, drawing, installation and video art. The first phase called “Ritualized Territory and Creation” deals with the relationship between own experiences in the territory of the artists and their creative processes; the second phase “Territory and Cultural Imaginaries”, highlights the intrinsic link between the experiences established in the previous phase and the construction of imaginaries that enable to question our cultural and ethical environment. It is attempted to highlight the importance and the fundamental role of the abovementioned representations as a bridge for a better understanding of the framework of subjectivities that triggers the relationship between natural and humanized ecosystems. This methodology will be explained through the development of four projects: “Abglutia”. “Peligro de Extinción”, “Natural Sense Making” and finally, “Pestes”. Through the analysis of these projects, it is recognized that the visual representations of these fictional ecosystems are useful and necessary to develop a critical view that promotes introspection and questioning about the relationship with our natural environment and the ecosystems that have influence on it, enabling to establish in our collective relationships the development of a symbolic relationship with the territory that we inhabit and build. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Instituto de Ciencias de la Naturaleza, Territorio y Energías Renovables (INTE-PUCP), 2020-09-08)It is attempted to show the possibilities of symbolic representation under an interdisciplinary approach, from Art and Architecture applied to the peripheral problems of the environment and to their reconstruction from the territory, evidencing a symbolic heritage based on the production of cartographies that show ethical-aesthetic values as a possibility of representation of the visual memory contained in the belonging processes occurring in the city of Metropolitan Lima. How could we view these reconstruction processes made by our memory around the spaces where we live and participate or how could migration paths be evidenced from that perspective? A methodology is proposed based on three phases of recognition of a personal route of rearrangement of individual history which starts from topographic knowledge of the territory in the reconstruction of personal experiences, to develop then cartographic sketches for the viewing of their implication in the reading of migration processes, as well as collective problems. This methodology will be explained through the development of three specific projects. Individual visual and installation artworks «De Reducto n. 2 a la Portada de Maravillas: Hacia el Descanso», «La Ruta de 50 Años» and Group Project «CO(HABITAR)».It can be recognized that the viewing of migration processes, from their symbolic aspects, represent diverse variants of recognition of the events experienced in the territory implying various layers of a reading that before being illustrative could be viewed through the processes of artistic expression, depending on the different origins of their participants and their experiences in the city. Those processes reconstruct the time lived as a cartographic set that can be viewed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

We study here an extraordinary tapestry, unusual due to a decorative program that combines Inca symbols resembling tocapus with a Christian cross. It is part of a larger investigation dedicated to colonial Andean tapestry that is soon to be published. No other similar specimen is known in Peru or abroad and it is probably one of the oldest known colonial tapestry. We have been fortunate to first present it in the seminars of the doctoral program in Andean Studies of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and in other events since 2014. It is located in the textile storage facility of the National Museum of Archeology, Anthropology and History of Peru and has no contextual data. It was woven with Andean traditional techniques and fibers (cotton and camelid). The contrasting colors stand out and particularly the hybrid design in which the geometric and stylized elements of the Inca graphic language appear next to a Catholic symbol. We analyze the iconography as well as the - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Do executioners have souls? La última tarde and La hora final: Representations of the "Insurgent" character in Peruvian fiction cinema(Springer, 2020-12-17)This chapter identifies the different approaches to representing the "insurgent" in Peruvian fiction cinema, highlighting the tensions between cinema as a cultural industry and the national discussion of memory about the armed conflict of 1980-2000. The complexity of the characters in La última tarde [One Last Afternoon] (2017) by Joel Calero and La hora final [The Last Hour] (2017) by Eduardo Mendoza is analyzed in comparison to other representations of the "insurgent" in the country's cinematic tradition, and in the relation to the discourses on memory that form part of the paradigm of human rights. It also discusses the limitations that the production and exhibition conditions of fiction films in Peru bring to the cinematic representation of this specific character type. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
