Sexismo y justificación de la violencia en adolescentes ecuatorianos de contextos en riesgo psicosocial
(Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón, 2020-07-01)
The research aims to analyze the relationships between ambivalent sexism and attitudes justifying violence among peers and domestic violence (in 73 adolescents (43 females and 30 males) aged from 11 to 18 years (M = 15.74, SD = 1.14 ), from a community in psychosocial risk in Loja, Ecuador. The Attitudes towards Diversity and Violence Questionnaire (Díaz-Aguado, Martínez Arias, & Martín Seoane, 2004) was used, as well as the Inventory of Ambivalent Sexism for Adolescents (De Lemus et al., 2008). Positive relationships were obtained between the variables, where hostile sexism proved to be a strong predictor of attitudes that justify domestic violence (R2 = .40, p <.001) and violence between peers (R2 = .39, p <. 001). Therefore, on the one hand, it is relevant for communities at risk to develop violence prevention programs that promote a culture of peace and, on the other hand, the deconstruction of sexism by strengthening of their rights and empowerment of resources.

Pandemia y salud mental: predictores del miedo al coronavirus (COVID-19) en jóvenes y adultos peruanos
    (Universidad de Lima, 2024-08-23)
The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the mental health of thousands of young people and adults, especially in its initial phase, since the disease was perceived as an uncertain and continuous threat, resulting in the fear of the coronavirus becoming dysfunctional, generating psychological discomfort. The principal aim of the study was to evaluate the psychosocial variables that predict fear of the coronavirus and its dimensions, in a sample of 384 Peruvian youth and adults, women (64.5%) and men (35.5%), between the ages of 18 and 67 (M= 26.36, SD=9.17). The predictor variables evaluated were Uncertainty, Stress, and the Use of the media, using for their measurement the IUS-12, the PSS-10 and the Scales of Use of the media and Fear of the coronavirus that belong to the Questionnaire of the Psychological Impact of the Coronavirus by Sandín et al. (2020). The results of the multiple linear regression analyzes revealed a prediction model of fear of the global coronavirus with a large effect size (R2 = .28, p < .001) and of medium magnitude in the models to predict its dimensions, thus evidencing the predictive capacity of intolerance towards uncertainty, stress, and frequent use of the media. Likewise, sex, educational level and employment were significant variables in the models, and it seems the women and those people who have a low educational level or do not have a job experience a greater fear of COVID-19.

El sueño de los universitarios: los logros y desafíos para las universidades promotoras de la salud
    (Universidad de Lima, 2024-02-16)
The aim of this paper is to describe and reflect on the sleep problem in the university population, even before the pandemic, as well as to present a review of the main interventions to promote sleep in universities. In this context, we describe how poor sleep quality is related to different psychological variables of interest for mental health, and we emphasize its consequences on the performance and wellbeing of students. Likewise, a review of the main intervention experiences from the Health Promoting Universities movement is made, discussing the achievements and proposing recommendations to face the challenges posed by the promotion of healthy sleep. Among the recommendations, the academy is asked to take on the challenge of systematically generating evidence to carry out sustainable interventions that have an impact on the university community.
