El artista modernista y el discurso psiquiátrico: Los raros de Rubén Darío y la mirada médica finisecular
(National Autonomous University of Mexico, 2021-01-29)
This article focuses on the relationship between literary discourse and psychiatric discourse in the late 19th century; especially, in what refers to the establishment of knowledge about the abnormal and the configuration of artistic genius as a pathology. Furthermore, the work aims to examine the construction of a “rhetoric of the disease”, their strategies and functions, in Los Raros (1896-1905) by Rubén Darío, from the analysis of the normal/abnormal conceptual binomial and the emergence of psychiatric discourse as power of normalization in end-of-century artistic productions. The author proposes that the literary portraits that Darío draws in his work reveal a tension between two types of gaze on the normal and the pathological. On the one hand, the artistic gaze of end-of-century artists with an ambivalent discourse that informs about a use of a pathological genius as an artistic ideal; on the other, the psychiatric gaze, which establishes a series of diagnostic and classification devices for abnormal subjects. Darío will face this clinical gaze from the pages of his literary portraits through a discourse that dismantles the episteme of the medical-psychiatric discourse and questions the fluctuating place that modernist writers occupy in the incipient Buenos Aires consumer society.

Rights for development. An analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of human rights approach to overcoming food insecurity and gender discrimination
    (2021-01-01)
This article explores the advantages and disadvantages of using a human rights-based approach to addressing two persistent development challenges: food insecurity and gender discrimination. As an exploratory paper, it does not propose a thesis but rather defines key concepts and legal norms of the human rights-based approach (HRBA), as well as its implications for food security and gender discrimination. Despite its exploratory nature, the paper remains a fair starting point for a more critical examination of the role played by human rights in the development field. This paper is divided into four sections. The first section lays forth a theoretical framework for HRBA, emphasizing its key features and operational principles. The second section explores the benefits and drawbacks of using HRBA to achieve development goals. The third section proposes some guidelines to achieve a world without hunger and food insecurity. The fourth section discusses how HRBA might contribute to overcoming gender discrimination. Finally, I outline the main takeaways.

Valoración de la sostenibilidad del sistema productivo ganadero de leche en zonas altoandinas de Colombia
    (University of Guadalajara, 2024-01-01)
The dairy cattle production system (SPGL) in the high areas of Colombia, located in the Ubaté and Chiquinquirá hydrographic basinaround the Fúquene lagoon, is considered one of the best areas to produce dairy products in the country. Many research andinvestment has been carried out in those areas to improve its competitiveness. Under this context, the objective of assessing the level ofsustainability of the SPGL was defined, from the supply and cultural ecosystem services (ES). The mixed approach methodologycollects primary information, validated with groups of experts that characterized the SPGL, and then assesses its sustainability. Thereliability and trustworthiness of the data are based on an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), which refines the variables and thenperforms a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) that exceeds the adjustment levels for this type of research. The results showsignificant direct causality of the SPGL sustainability level from the supply and cultural ES. Concluding, the dairy cattle production systems of the municipalities surrounding the Fúquene lagoon presents serious environmental, social, and productive problems, and only a holistic or novel approach such as the valuation of the in Supply and Cultural Ecosystem Services helps to resolve these problems.
