Item type:Publication, Supply Chain Innovation and Sustainability Frontiers: A Balanced Scorecard Perspective(Springer, 2020-01-01)Global trade has been growing at a steady pace since the 1950s, which has brought increasing operational challenges to supply chains. Technological advances and the “digital revolution” bring new opportunities to improve key supply chain processes in many sectors, including transportation. However, while embracing innovation, firms have to ensure that they do not lose strategic focus and that their performance measurement systems continue to evolve. This study explores how disruptive innovations in supply chain operations may produce unexpected outcomes for firms’ strategy. We analyze four examples of technological innovation in transport under a Balanced Scorecard framework. Our reflections shed light on the potential trade-offs that organizations may face between different dimensions of performance to pursue sustainable development goals. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Exploring Enabling Factors for Innovation Outcomes. A Firm-Level Analysis(EAFIT University, 2020-07-28)Major innovation research has been primarily focused on developed countries, creating a gap in the literature related to innovation processes in emerging markets, such as Latin America. Even as some studies are aimed toward this region, their approach is usually only from the standpoint of an R&D funding perspective. This paper aims to discuss the relationship between resources for innovation and sources of innovation with innovation outcomes, using a sample of Peruvian companies, which received public funds oriented to the developing of innovative activities. Results found evidence that the presence of resources for innovation and sources of innovation have a positive influence on innovation outcomes. Moreover, resources for innovation are related to non-technological innovation, with internal R&D being the most carried out by companies even when it is not related to product nor process innovation. While sources of innovation are related to product innovation, firms demonstrated an incipient use of inter-firm collaboration strategies as its sources it. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Dealing with COVID-19 through employee stock ownership plans(IGI Global, 2021-11-01)In this chapter, the authors argue that far from the shocking decision of firing employees to leverage their short-term liquidity, organizations may draw other innovative options such as giving company shares to their employees. Employee stock ownership (ESO) plans have the potential to secure financial liquidity for firms while simultaneously providing social inclusion as well as empowerment to people, relating their efforts directly to firms' performance and driving the economic system into a shared capitalism. However, while companies may be solving their financial constraints through ESO, the authors identified a trade-off related to the traditional position of hegemony of firms. They argue that the decision to share the risk through paying wages using firms' stock options derives in a progressive detriment of power and control that some organizations would not be willing to suffer. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Addressing sustainability challenges through supply chain managers’ transformative leadership behavior(Springer, 2021-01-01)Sustainability concerns are far beyond individual action of the organizations or even countries. Instead, global supply chains have demonstrated their potential as powerful networks of integration, connecting the most important economic activities in the world. Nevertheless, supply chains have to rely on their leaders to achieve a proper performance, so adding a sustainability perspective on these leaders will drive to the incorporation of sustainability practices alongside supply chains at each stage and process. This chapter aims to highlight the importance of adopting a sustainability mindset for supply chains’ leaders, in order to fulfill stakeholders’ expectations regarding social concerns, environmental detriment, and economic welfare. Moreover, we discuss how a transformative leadership would be achieved, by thinking ahead of traditional supply chains’ measures such as price, quality, and speed, finding important insights from real examples. Beyond businesses and supply chain leaders, we also address the need to address sustainability issues in a systems perspective, in which we highlight the crucial role of teaching and learning. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Challenges and Opportunities for Sharing the Ownership in Peru(Routledge, 2025-01-01)The world has been living its processes so fast that when it looks back over its shoulder, it realizes that there are many changes needed to fix the flaws and tensions created due to speeding, to include everyone in the promise of progressive growth and prosperity within the current economic system. This issue is more evident in emerging markets, where institutional weaknesses, informal economies, and insufficient resources are considerable. Hence, our chapter explores how feasible the implementation of mechanisms of shared capitalism, specifically Employee Ownership initiatives, could be achieved in Peru. The result of our discussion proposes that traditional companies would suffer from an enormous inertia towards more inclusive and participatory business models because of what they have been doing to overcome the local institutional voids, contrary to new social businesses that could represent the start point of the diffusion of Employee Ownership practices in the Peruvian business community.1
