Lemaître, Liliana’s venture, provided this service in an artisanal way. However, her market required the incorporation of technologies. Liliana must choose what to automate in her process and what to keep traditional. Not innovating meant Lemaître would be unable to grow, causing the sustainability of the business would to be at risk. Item type:Publication, Analysis of the Liquidity, Solvency and Profitability of the Mining Companies Listed on the S&P/BVL Mining Index During the 2004–2020 Period(2023-07-03)In several countries, mining contributes more than most sectors to economic growth. But the activity is marked by cyclical behaviour, including booms in the price of metals—such as that which occurred in the period 2004-2012. Therefore, it is important for investors to identify the financial performance of companies in the sector. This study aims to analyse the levels of liquidity, solvency, and profitability of Peruvian mining companies listed on the S&P/BVL Mining Index for the period 2004–2020, given the contribution of mining to GDP growth and employment in Peru. We utilise a quantitative approach, collecting data from the companies’ financial statements through Bloomberg. The research design is non-experimental, based on a descriptive, comparative, and longitudinal approach. For the statistical analysis, descriptive statistics tests and Student’s t-test were carried out. Analysis of the results reveal that the liquidity, solvency, and profitability of this group of companies exhibited a better performance during the metal-price boom period, with a marked decrease in the following period. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Legacy of a crisis: understanding individual success and uncertainty via self-perceived creativity – insights from the COVID-19 pandemic among Colombian entrepreneurs(Emerald Publishing Limited, 2025-08-04)This study aims to explore the mediating role of self-perceived creativity in the relationship between the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on individual success and uncertainty perceptions among Colombian entrepreneurs. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative framework was employed to gather survey data. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 4 was used to analyze the mediation hypothesis. Findings This study confirms that an increase in entrepreneurs' individual success correlates with a reduction in their perceived environmental uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic. This nexus is partially mediated by entrepreneurs' self-perceived creativity, suggesting that higher levels of perceived personal success bolster creativity, which in turn mitigates perceptions of uncertainty. Research limitations/implications This study's reliance on voluntary deterministic sampling may have limited the representativeness of the sample. Given SEM's preference for larger samples, the smaller sample size necessitates a cautious interpretation of the findings as it may constrain their generalizability. The study also relied on self-reported data for both independent and dependent variables, which may have introduced a bias. Practical implications These findings highlight the importance of strategically managing creativity as a critical entrepreneurial asset, particularly when navigating uncertain times. Policy interventions should therefore include the facilitation of creativity training programs by both governmental and non-governmental entities. Support programs should also encompass emotional assistance to help entrepreneurs navigate through trials and the potential failures caused by crises. Originality/value The originality of this work lies in its simultaneous consideration of entrepreneurial success, uncertainty and creativity within a unified conceptual framework, thereby augmenting entrepreneurship discourse.2
