    El comunismo en Marx
    (2020-11-30)

To What Extent Do Management Educators Embed Globally Responsible Humanism (GRH) in Their Courses and Why? An Exploratory Study
    (Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2023-01-01)
This paper aims to explore the extent to which Globally Responsible Humanism (GRH) is embedded in the management education offered by public business schools in Egypt. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 24 management educators working at three public business schools. The findings show an absence of socio-cultural, ethical, and eco-political themes in their courses and research activities. Moreover, only five of our respondents highlight a superficial embedding of the definitions of social responsibility, sustainability, environmental awareness, and ethics in economics, accounting, and management courses.

How Might Responsible Management Education (RME) Be Used to Develop Responsible Leadership Skills Among Students in Business Schools? Evidence From Non-Western Business Schools
    (Emerald Publishing Limited, 2023-08-30)
Purpose This paper aims to find an answer to the questions: To what extent is the implementation of responsible management education (RME) perceived to be adequate for developing responsible leadership skills among business school students? How should it be used effectively to guarantee such an outcome? Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted semi-structured interviews with 24 management educators working at three public business schools. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the collected data. Findings The findings show that the implementation of RME alone is not adequate to ensure the development of responsible leadership skills among students in business schools. However, management educators do perceive it as a considerable step towards that outcome if accompanied with internship and training opportunities to exercise and observe how social roles and activities are practiced in business, not-for-profit and civil society organisations. Originality/value This study is a pioneering attempt to address the relationship between RME and developing responsible leadership skills among students in non-Western business schools.

Work Alienation in Emerging Countries: An Analysis of Practices and Mechanisms in Peruvian Companies
    (Brill, 2026-06-01)
Neoliberal policies have disrupted work relationships across the world, intensifying their subordination to productivity and profit imperatives, turning them increasingly uncertain. Although companies have developed a rhetoric of concern for workers' integration and sa2tisfaction, many workers experience the workplace as an alienating environment. Research on work alienation has been given limited scholarly attention in the management sciences. Drawing on the perspectives of critical theory, organization studies, and business ethics, we analyzed the dynamics of alienation in large and medium companies in Peru, based on information coming from 53 in-depth interviews with workers in different industries. We examined practices of alienation along four dimensions (powerlessness, meaninglessness, self-estrangement, and social isolation), and elucidated the variety of reproduction, feedback, and resistance mechanisms through which alienating relationships are reinforced and contested. In the neoliberal world of work, alienation has become an increasingly sophisticated feature, which makes it particularly difficult to identify and criticize.
