Central America and Peru during the Pacific War: The work of the Peruvian legation (1879–1881)
(Universidad de Playa Ancha -Departamento De Historia, 2024-01-01)
The research examines the relationship that the Peruvian legation established in Central America, in order to meet the objectives of the foreign policy outlined in the midst of the Pacific War (1879-1884). The legation, directed by Tomás Lama between 1879 and 1881, proposed a policy of rapprochement with Central American countries to achieve military objectives (obtaining weapons) and public diplomacy (information management), especially with Costa Rica and Guatemala. The work undertaken by Lama was fruitful until his agreements with presidents Tomás Guardia and Rufino Barrios were revealed in 1881, which produced a protest from the Chilean Foreign Ministry due to the alteration of neutrality. This study will review unpublished information from the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the National Library of Peru.

Weapons, Funds, and International Recognition in the War of the Pacific. The Role of the Legation of Peru in France and England After the Fall of Lima (1881-1884)
    (Universidad del Pacífico Press, 2023-01-30)
This research focuses on knowing the actions deployed by the Peruvian legation in France and England after the fall of Lima in the hands of the Chilean army and in the midst of a deep political anarchy that influenced the setting of the objectives of the foreign policy of the parallel governments that Peru had between 1881 and 1883, specifically in obtaining funds and weapons for the regimes of the presidents Francisco García Calderón, Nicolás de Piérola, Lizardo Montero and Miguel Iglesias. Despite the deep political division, the Peruvian legation continued with the execution of the orders of Lima and Arequipa as part of foreign policy, although with increasing autonomy towards the end of the war. In this sense, unpublished information from various historical sources will be analyzed, including the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, the National Library of Peru, and the Riva Agüero Institute of the PUCP

Weapons, Alliances and Funds for War. Peruvian Diplomacy During the Pacific War (1879)
(Sello editorial Universidad del Atlantico, 2023-01-01)
One of the disciplines least examined by Peruvian historiography on the Pacific War (1879-1883) is diplomatic history. In this sense, this article proposes to know the coordination work that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out with the Peruvian diplomatic missions in America and Europe when the war began in 1879 and how diplomacy became a war front. The documentation of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs allows us to know the objectives of the foreign policy developed by the Peruvian Foreign Ministry and shows the importance of information processing and analysis of the international scene.
