Item type:Publication, Theory of Phase-Adaptive Parametric Cooling(American Physical Society, 2023-05-01)We propose an adaptive phase technique for the parametric cooling of mechanical oscillators. Our scheme calls for a sequence of periodic adjustments of the phase of a parametric modulation of the mechanical oscillator that is conditioned on measurements of its two quadratures. The technique indicates an exponential loss of thermal energy at initial high occupancies, similar in performance to other optomechanical techniques such as cold-damping or cavity self-cooling. As the quantum ground state is approached, the phase adaptive scheme leads to residual occupancies at the level of a few phonons owing to the competition between parametric amplification of quantum fluctuations and the feedback action. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Solving Dicke superradiance analytically: A compendium of methods(American Physical Society, 2026-01-01)We present several analytical approaches to the Dicke superradiance problem, which involves determining the time evolution of the density operator for an initially inverted ensemble of N identical two-level systems undergoing collective spontaneous emission. This serves as one of the simplest cases of open quantum system dynamics that allows for a fully analytical solution. We explore multiple methods to tackle this problem, yielding a solution valid for any time and any number of emitters. These approaches range from solving coupled rate equations and identifying exceptional points in non-Hermitian evolution to employing combinatorial and probabilistic techniques, as well as utilizing a quantum jump unraveling of the master equation. The analytical solution is expressed as a residue sum obtained from a contour integral in the complex plane, suggesting the possibility of fully analytical solutions for a broader class of open quantum system dynamics problems. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Prospects of phase-adaptive cooling of levitated magnetic particles in a hollow-core photonic-crystal fiber(American Physical Society, 2025-04-01)We analyze the feasibility of cooling of classical motion of a micro- to nano-sized magnetic particle, levitated inside a hollow-core photonic crystal fiber. The cooling action is implemented by means of controlling the relative phase between counterpropagating fiber guided waves. Direct imaging of the particle's position allows dynamic phase adjustments that produce a Stokes-type cooling force. We provide estimates of cooling efficiency and final achievable temperature, taking into account thermal and detection noise sources. Our results bring forward an important step towards using trapped micromagnets in sensing, testing the fundamental physics and preparing the quantum states of magnetization.3
