ITSM model for very small organisation: An empirical validation
(Institution of Engineering and Technologyjbristow@theiet.org, 2020-04-01)
Nowadays, information technology services management (ITSM) has become strongly needed for every kind of organisations providing IT services for customers or for themselves. However, existing models (as CMMI-SVC, ITIL or ISO/IEC 20000) are strongly difficult to implement on very small organisations. The aim of this study is to validate an ITSM model specifically proposed for small organisations, the PCPS4SVC model. This model was developed considering the needs and constraints of small organisations and was verified against reference models using process mapping. In this study, the model was validated in three small enterprises, where it was tailored and implemented. As a result, the enterprises improved their IT services operation. Finally, it was determined than PCPS4SVC is a model easy-to-use and adequate for small enterprises.

The Impact of Plant Layout Dimensions on Fire Load Density in the Rice Milling Industry in Lambayeque-Peru
(International Information and Engineering Technology Association, 2025-12-01)
Fire incidents represent a substantial threat to the sustainability of companies, with their impact predominantly influenced by fire load density. This study aimed to examine the impact of plant layout dimensions on the overall fire load density within the rice milling industry of Lambayeque, Peru. To this end, the study characterized the sizing of four plants, determined the unit fire load of each work area, and employed simulation to analyze the relationship between area size and total fire load density in a rice plant layout. The findings indicated that (i) by increasing the size of the maneuvering yard areas by 4% to 10%, the fire load was reduced by 2% to 3%; and (ii) by increasing the size of the husk rice warehouses (by 10% to 21%), finished product (by 13% to 19%), and empty sacks (by 14% to 22%), the fire load increased by 3% to 8%, 2% to 4%, and 1% to 3% respectively.

Risk Management in Software Development Using Scrum. A Systematic Literature Review
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2025-01-01)
An increasing number of organizations are adopting Scrum for software development owing to its flexibility, collaborative structure, transparency, and communication, adapting to continuous changes in requirements. However, Scrum teams do not use well-defined, good practices, or systematic methods for risk management. This makes it difficult to scale and extend the knowledge and actions of different Scrum teams to mitigate risks by reducing operational efficiency. This study characterizes the risk management methods and practices used by software development teams working within a Scrum framework. In this study, a systematic literature review (SLR) was performed using five relevant databases based on eight research questions. A total of 231 records were extracted from the databases consulted, which after the process, remained in 16 primary studies according to the criteria of inclusion, exclusion, and quality. The most commonly used risk-management practices were identified, evaluated, and implemented. In addition, the analyzed models present characteristics aligned with agile values, such as collaboration and adaptability, while maintaining the iterative nature of agility. The analysis shows a wide variety of approaches that combine traditional tools with Scrum. They highlight independent and hybrid strategies as well as benefits, such as the identification of risks and the increase in team productivity and efficiency. Although Scrum contributes indirectly to risk management, a more structured approach through hybrid models is needed, complemented by risk management training for the entire Scrum team, to strengthen resilience and improve project decision making.

ISO/IEC 25000-based quality-in-use evaluation guide for B2C platforms for SMEs in the food sector
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2025-01-01)
The Covid 19 pandemic and lockdown established as a strategy to combat it generated a substantial increase in the use of e-commerce, increasing the online shopping transaction. In the case of small and medium enterprises in the food sector in Peru, sales increased through websites, mobile applications and telephone-based services. However, the quality in use of such websites showed certain shortcomings that should be improved. The goal of this article is to define a guide for the application of quality in use based on ISO/IEC 25000. This guide was developed by identifying the characteristics, sub characteristics and metrics of quality in use with the support of expert judgment and applied to a case study for validation. In this case study, it was evident that the quality in use can be evaluated through the application of the guide directly and simply, obtaining objective results.
