Adaptación y resistencia sindical: Trayectorias divergentes de resiliencia organizativa en Perú (CGTP) y Argentina (CGT) ante rupturas autoritarias e imposición neoliberal
    (2026-07-21)
This study empirically analyzes the significant divergence in levels of organizational resilience and membership density between Argentina’s General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and Peru’s General Confederation of Workers (CGTP). Despite facing similar critical junctures—military dictatorships in the 1970s and sudden neoliberal shocks in the 1990s—Peruvian trade unionism suffered a continuous organizational collapse, while the Argentine union maintained formidable representative power. Through comparative analysis and process tracing, the study argues that this gap stems from the different path dependencies forged in their foundational models of political engagement. The CGT built its resilience on a historical corporate integration with Peronism and on solid institutional resources, resisting neoliberalism through a pragmatic “corporate unionism.” In contrast, the CGTP operated under a “class-based unionism,” characterized by direct confrontation, partisan isolation, and extreme fragmentation into precarious company unions. It is concluded that institutional survival requires intertwining material defense with strategic integration into the political system, rather than relying solely on militancy.

Identity at the Edge of the Word: The Phenomenon of Terruqueo in Cyberspace, Forms and Hegemonic Representations
(Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, 2023-01-01)
This article analyzes one of the discriminatory discourses that has recently acquired special relevance in the Peruvian national context: cyberterruqueo. The aim is to carry out a descriptive analysis of the phenomenon —from the political-ideological and ethnic, racial and cultural perspectives—, and to study, in the context of cyberspace, the hegemonic representations that are discursively created with respect to certain sectors of the population. Methodologically, the study has an exploratory quali-tative approach. The study of these representations was based on the occurrence of this phenomenon within the framework of the Twitter social network, and the data for the analysis were collected from Twitter. Among the results, it was found that cyberterruqueo functions as a tool of social annihilation and stigmatization that is based on negative representations in order to achieve the invalidation or delegitimization of certain sectors of the population and their demands and needs, in favor of the perpetuation and domination of a hegemonic sector or establishment and its agenda. The article concludes, in turn, that virtual space and the social interactions it comprises are a reflection of reality, and that it allows for the production, reproduction and socialization of certain hegemonic representations configured in the discourse.
