Autoritarismo y participación política no convencional en el Perú urbano y rural: un análisis contextual con una muestra nacional representativa

This study examines the relationship between right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) and disruptive political participation in Peru, focusing on a comparative analysis between urban and rural contexts (N=945). Findings reveal that in urban areas, RWA significantly inhibits disruptive political participation, even when controlling for other variables. In contrast, in rural areas, RWA does not display the same inhibitory effect. These differences suggest distinct political and socioeconomic realities in each context. In urban settings, support for the status quo restricts disruptive actions. However, in rural areas, the lack of formal mechanisms to express demands legitimizes forms of protest and disruptive participation. Results underscore the importance of contextual analysis in political psychology studies in Latin America, and they recommend including emotional and identity factors in future research.
