Item type:Publication, The effects of social capital and psychological resilience on employees' positive work attitudes(Inderscience Publishers, 2020-01-01)This study analyses the antecedents and consequence of employees' psychological resilience (PR) in the workplace. We first examined the three dimensions of the effects of social capital (structural, relational and cognitive) on employees' PR. Then, we tested the effects of PR on employees' positive work attitudes. A cross-sectional survey data from 204 employees working in an Iranian state-owned organisation supports the positive effects of three dimensions of employees' social capital on their psychological resilience. We also found that PR contributes to increasing positive work attitudes toward the achievement of organisational goals among employees. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Exploring the Link between Environmental Practices and Financial Performance: an Empirical Study(University of the Philippines at Los Banos, 2020-12-31)Ongoing environmental deterioration has led governments and other institutions to pay closer attention to pollution problems as pollutant emissions can significantly influence and constrain economic growth. Most countries on the American continent use the ISO 14001 standard and the number of new certifications grows year by year. This work empirically explores the influence of environmental management system based on ISO 14001 certifications upon the financial performance of Colombian companies, 133 ISO 14001 certified and 5,036 non-certified firms. A panel data analysis over three years was the data analysis method. This work studied the financial performance of the companies implementing EMS compared to those that did not in one of the most important Latin American economies (Colombia). It was found that a positive relationship exists between the ISO standard and financial performance measured through the companies’ Return on Assets (ROA). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Podcasting collaborations and ontological relationships of being ‘here’ and ‘there’ in the Lower Marañón River in Peru(2021-11-12)This article is about podcasts and mobile phones not only as “daily technologies of life” but also as ways to convey personal stories and to do ethnographic research. However, we do not romanticize the use of digital technology for anthropological research. We use podcasts as a form to write our ethnographic work with our collaborators, and also as a way to keep in contact with our collaborators while in a global pandemic. For podcasts, we had to do several interviews and later edited them as both dialogues and individual stories. Interviews were mostly done by other digital devices such as WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, and telephone calls. The stories in our podcast series are mostly about an Amazonian indigenous community struggling to survive the global pandemic after several oil spills and other epidemics. Podcasts create a sort of intimacy and co-presence stimulating a multimodal, sensorial experience. However, power relations do not disappear, nor did they become invisible. Rather, power relations are accommodated in the new audio/digital scenario. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Attempts for an effective renewable-energy knowledge transfer at Peruvian universities(IGI Global, 2021-01-25)Researchers at Peruvian universities are looking for opportunities to effectively interact with business enterprises and communities. They have also looked for government funding for these initiatives. These interactions are governed by the “triple-helix” concept of university-company-government interaction. Research groups in both the public and private sectors are trying to implement these links. In the present work, the authors evaluate a sample of Peruvian university research groups that study renewable-energy topics. The methodology considers case studies at five Peruvian universities. A model is proposed according the third academic revolution for accelerating interactions, research, innovations, and publications on the renewable-energy topic. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The effect of family supportive supervisor behaviors and work-family culture on turnover intention and work-family conflict(Growing Science, 2021-01-01)The of this research was to look into the work-life interface of professionals in a de-manding and high-risk occupation in an organization in the security sector. Specifically, it focuses on the interaction between supervisor behaviors and culture with turnover intention and work-family conflict. The present study centers on data from a public security organization (3861) in a Latin American country. The validity of the measuring instruments was evaluated through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was then applied to evaluate the relationship between variables. Results found show a statistically significant negative impact of the supervisor behaviors in organizational (turnover intention) and individual outcomes (work-family conflict). At the same time, organizational culture negatively affects turnover intentions and work-family conflict. While confirming results coming from the private sector in other countries, the importance of supervisor behaviors and culture provides implications for work and family practices in this type of organization. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Factors affecting job stress among employees in Bin Chen Parts Private Limited Company(2021-03-20)There is a high level of stress faced by employees of Bin Chen Parts Private Limited Company. The research was conducted to examine the factors causing job stress in workplace. There are 36 respondents from Bin Chen Parts Private Limited Company collected in the present research by using quantitative measurements. Google form was selected to use in this research. The collected data from the research were adopted to verify the hypotheses of the research. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between job demands and job stress. Conversely, the relationship between job resources and job stress is relatively negative. The results of the research will be finalized precisely and sent to Bin Chen Parts Private Limited Company to enhance the work-life in the company. The employers of the company are able to aware of the factors affecting job stress among employees in their company. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Impact of authentic leadership on work engagement and organizational citizenship behavior: the mediating role of motivation for work(2021-08-01)The general of this research was to analyze the effects of the perception of authentic leadership on work engagement and organizational citizenship behavior through motivation for work. Design/Methodology/Approach: With a cross-sectional design, the data were obtained from 300 employees belonging to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in all the provinces of Ecuador, establishing causal relationships through regression and confirmatory factor analysis and supporting the structural equation model.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Ethanol lamp: a simple, tunable flame oscillator and its coupled dynamics(Springer Science+Business Media, 2021-12-29)In this paper, we introduce a simple controllable experimental system that can exhibit rich dynamics. The setup comprises a sealed glass vial of ethanol with wicks immersed in it. The flame produced by such a lamp can show both steady combustion or oscillatory combustion (i.e. flickering) depending on the volume of fuel within and the number of wicks used in its construction. This tunability makes it a great model system to study the dynamics of flame oscillations and to explore emergent behaviour of coupled nonlinear oscillators in table-top experiments. In the present work, the behaviour of this system for different fuel volumes is explored and some typical phenomena reported in other experimental systems, viz. in-phase synchronization, anti-phase synchronization and amplitude death are demonstrated. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
