Item type:Publication, Resiliencia en el Estado, la sociedad, la política y la urbe. Algunas reflexiones(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Instituto de la Naturaleza, Tierra y Energía (INTE-PUCP), 2022)This chapter refers to resilience, a term that is simultaneously considered as a goal, a means, and a capacity, depending on the discipline of study used. A construct is proposed for its development, “search for excellence in work performance”. It analyses transition to achieving resilience in the Government, Society, Politics and Urbanism with intersections in the implications that are visible and necessary after two hundred years of republican life in Peru as a path for reflection, discussion, and evaluation. The paper ends by presenting the limitations that resilience has as a means of transformation when the return to a previous state of a disruptive event is not an option. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Nos habíamos terruqueado tanto: cómo y por qué el poder instrumentaliza el concepto “terrorismo”(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2024-12-10)This paper examines the discursive appropriation of the concept of “terrorism” by the contemporary establishment. Drawing some indications from the political philosophies of Plato and Hobbes, who share a similar enthusiasm for violence as an instrument of power, the argument is made that the misuse of the concept of “terrorism” functions as a mechanism for the self-legitimation and self-affirmation of power. This is the case because power, through widely disseminated doctrinal systems, presents terrorist acts as a sample of the hypothetical state of total chaos that would arise if its current configuration were modified. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Protests in Peru: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on a Structural Crisis(Taylor & Francis, 2023-01-02)This conversation is the result of an event that took place on 18 April 2023, as a collaboration with the Humanities Institute of the University of California, Santa Cruz, that aimed to create a space for collective reflection on the multidimensional crises Peru had been facing since early December 2022 when protests erupted in the wake of former President Pedro Castillo’s unsuccessful attempt to shut down Congress to avert an impeachment and in response to the extreme violence exerted by the Peruvian state under Dina Boluarte’s presidency. For this conversation we take as our starting point the lens of Aldair Mejía, a young Peruvian photojournalist who covered the protests in the country with a perspective focused on justice and intent on challenging the dehumanising representation of the protesters in traditional media. Furthermore, to understand this structural crisis from multidisciplinary perspectives, the event also brought together Peruvian academics from the humanities and the social sciences, who contemplated the historical, social, cultural, economic, and political implications of the current crisis for the future of Peru.
