Item type:Publication, Environmental management, cleaner production and organizational performance: a structural approach(Widener University School of Civil Engineering, 2021-11-01)Organizations can redirect their business models to solve the problem of materials depletion using environmental management and cleaner production as practices of the circular economy. This study aims to measure the relationship between environmental management, cleaner production, and organizational performance. Within this context, a survey of 372 companies was performed in the agro-industrial, manufacturing and construction sectors in three important productive regions of Colombia. Structural Equation Modeling was used for data analysis. The economic sector moderated the relationship between the latent variables. This phenomenon was analyzed using a multi-group technique. The results show that Cleaner production is positively related to Organizational Performance at corporations. The results show that Cleaner production is positively related to Organizational Performance at corporations. It was also observed that Environmental Management influences Cleaner Production. Finally, it is worth noting that productive sectors in Colombia tend to be committed to circular economy practices, some to environmental management and others to cleaner production with an impact on organizational performance. The result of the study may be useful for domestic and foreign investors and managers, for analysts and researchers, and for educators. The rationale behind this is an understanding that interactions between environmental management and cleaner production and organizational performance will influence the academic community or business activity to generate behaviors favoring the environment and sustainable development. These findings will be extremely useful for promoting future research studies on establishing an improved framework for the promotion of environmental management and cleaner production practices primarily among Colombian productive companies. This work can also serve as a reference for other industrial sectors and countries. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Adoption of big data analytics and its impact on organizational performance in higher education mediated by knowledge management(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2021-12-01)Due to SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, higher education institutions are challenged to continue providing quality teaching, consulting, and research production through virtual education environ-ments. In this context, a large volume of data is being generated, and technologies such as big data analytics are needed to create opportunities for open innovation by obtaining valuable knowledge. The of this paper is to investigate the factors that influence the adoption of big data analytics and evaluate the relationship it has with performance and knowledge management, taking into consideration that this technology is in its initial stages and that previous research has provided varied results depending on the sector in focus. To address these challenges, a theoretical framework is developed to empirically test the relationship of these variables; 265 members of universities in Latin America were surveyed, and structural equation modeling is used. The findings identify compatibility, an adequate organizational data environment, and external support as factors required to adopt big data analytics, and their positive relationship is tested with knowledge management processes and organizational performance. This study provides practical guidance for decision-makers involved in or in charge of defining the implementation strategy of big data analytics in higher education institutions. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The mediating role of organizational culture between transformational leadership and organizational performance in SMEs(Emerald Publishing, 2024-06-13)Considering the entrepreneurship nature and the high number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Latin American region, this study seeks to empirically test the relationship between organizational culture (OC), transformational leadership (TF) and organizational performance (OP) to support their long-term survival. Design/methodology/approach: Under a post-positivism paradigm, quantitative approach and correlational scope, this research analyzed the interrelationship between OC, TF and OP across Peruvian SMEs. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) were used to test the hypotheses based on the responses of 276 SMEs’ top executives from the commerce, services, manufacturing, construction and agriculture industries. Findings: OC fully mediates the relationship between TL and OP. Although TF solely does not drive OP, the mediating effect of OC is crucial for SMEs’ long-term survival, especially considering their contribution to employment, poverty reduction and GDP in developing countries. Entrepreneurial transformational leaders inspire their followers to achieve goals, strive to develop individual skills, transmit confidence and leave aside their own interests to focus on the common goal of growing their entrepreneurship competitively. Originality/value: The three variables under analysis have been applied to large companies and SMEs. However, this research enriches previous findings, highlighting the necessity for an adequate OC derived from an entrepreneur with TL, contributing to the survival of SMEs, whose results are critical for developing countries’ economies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Investigation of the Effects of Knowledge Management on Organizational Performance Through Human Resource Management as Mediator(SAGE Publishing, 2023-04-17)This research seeks to examine and distinguish the factors influencing empowerment and exertion of knowledge management along with the effect of knowledge management on organizational performance. In addition, this paper investigates human capital as mediator between the relationship of knowledge management and organizational performance. The conceptual model was extended based on the literature review. The primary data were gathered using a questionnaire comprising 48 questions distributed to the personnel of all branches of one of the largest private banks in Iran. Three hundred sixty-one questionnaires were randomly distributed among the personnel, and 334 questionnaires were answered. The gathered data were examined through SPSS and SMART PLS. The results demonstrated the positive impacts of variables including structure, organizational technology, strategy, culture, and trust on organizational knowledge management under study. Moreover, knowledge management directly affects the performance of the organization and through human resource management as mediator. This study motivates the managers and personnel to exploit the accessible organizational assets for enhancing knowledge management practices as well as human resources as the most exquisite organizational capitals. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Impact of Intellectual Capital on Organizational Performance Through Intrinsic Motivation in Higher Education Institutions(Cogent OA, 2023-01-01)The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance with the mediating rol of intrinsic motivation in higher education institutions. We conducted an empirical study with a sample of 815 employees from public and private universities in Ecuador. Data were obtained from an instrument adapted the previous researchadministered to faculty and administrative staff in management positions. A structural equation modelling approach was used to analyze the relationships between variables and their magnitude and direction. The results showed a significant relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance, with a partial mediation of intrinsic motivation. No significant differences were found in the effect of intellectual capital between public and private universities. Managers who aim to improve the performance of their organizations with their intellectual capital can benefit from the intrinsic motivation of their employees. This research shows intrinsic motivation as a mediator between intellectual capital and organizational performance, but also analyzes their relationships based on the Self-Determination Theory, which is a novelty according to the existing literature. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Productivity and its relation to business management in Peruvian companies(2025-09-11)This study sought to determine the relationship between productivity and Business Management in Peruvian companies. The methodology included a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design, correlational and cross-sectional scope; in addition to having a sample of 50 employees to whom two questionnaires were applied seeking to evaluate their Business Management practices and the relationship it has within productivity. Among the results, Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient was applied to determine the existence or not of a relationship between the variables "productivity" and "Business Management" as well as the dimensions of the variable "Business Management", it was obtained (1) the existence of a considerable positive correlation (r=0.723) and a significance level of less than 5% between both variables, (2) a considerable positive correlation (r=0.670) and a significance level of less than 5% between effectiveness and Business Management, (3) a considerable positive correlation (r=0.636) and a significance level of less than 5% between efficiency and Business Management and (4) a very strong positive correlation (r=0.853) and a significance level of less than 5% between innovation and Business Management. The conclusion is that those companies that prioritize effectiveness, efficiency and promote innovation within their business management are more productive and competitive in the market; furthermore, this study offers a solid platform for future research and for the development of strategies that promote productivity and business success in the Peruvian context.6
