Analysis of factors affecting project communications with a hybrid DEMATEL-ISM approach (A case study in Iran)
    (Elsevier, 2020-08-01)
Project management; Communications management; Fuzzy DEMATEL; Interpretive structural modeling (ISM); MICMAC Analysis; Construction engineering; Human resource management; Industry management; Business management; Behavioral psychology; Business One of the main factors in the success of projects is communications management and proper and timely distribution of information among all internal and external project stakeholders. Despite of emphasizing on the importance of project communications in the literature, there are few studies identifying factors influencing project communications. This research aims to address this shortcoming by identifying and determining sequences and relationships factors affecting project communications and their clustering. The informed communication strategy allows managers to structure the information flow in a better and more controlled manner and to avoid the costs caused by lack of effective and timely communication. The present study is conducted to help clarify the views of the organization's managers and project managers on project communications, and to identify factors affecting it and how they effectively communicate to successfully accomplish the projects. First a number of factors influencing project communications are identified on the basis of previous studies and interviews with experts and project managers working in oil, gas and power plant construction megaprojects in Iran. Then, these factors are analyzed by using the combination of fuzzy DEMATEL and Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) techniques. The relationships and sequence between the indicators are determined so that it can be effective in project communications planning and project success through providing an insight for senior managers and project managers.

Intelligent Engineering Management Modeling for Computer Technology and Data Mining
    (World Scientific, 2023-04-14)
The author suggests using computer technology and data mining in intelligent engineering management to increase the management capacity of engineering projects and decrease the consumption of construction expenses. The emphasis is mostly on theoretical and analytical approaches to problems of practical concern for data mining, perhaps in combination with other conventional tools, and the associated applications to engineers and managers of various industrial sectors. This has immediate benefits for both academic and applied data mining researchers as well as research students. The author developed a BIM project management system based on Browser/Server architecture and Client/Server architecture in conjunction with BIM technology and the BIM 4D model. To execute complete project management of business management, real-time control, and decision support, the system must establish and use its business logic and data exchange link. Each module in the 4D construction dynamic management subsystem recognizes dynamic management of the construction process, and the working duration of each module is determined by calculating by using the unified engineering decomposition principle, rationalizing the relevant data through time parameters, recording the acquired management data and storing it in the BIM database, and connecting the BIM database bi-directionally through the web server through the system integration. The results showed that when the time is 20[Formula: see text]min, the throughput of the system is higher than [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]kb/s. The system can effectively improve the project management ability, reduce the construction cost and construction period of the project, and the system responds quickly.

Productivity and its relation to business management in Peruvian companies
    (2025-09-11)
This study sought to determine the relationship between productivity and Business Management in Peruvian companies. The methodology included a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design, correlational and cross-sectional scope; in addition to having a sample of 50 employees to whom two questionnaires were applied seeking to evaluate their Business Management practices and the relationship it has within productivity. Among the results, Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient was applied to determine the existence or not of a relationship between the variables "productivity" and "Business Management" as well as the dimensions of the variable "Business Management", it was obtained (1) the existence of a considerable positive correlation (r=0.723) and a significance level of less than 5% between both variables, (2) a considerable positive correlation (r=0.670) and a significance level of less than 5% between effectiveness and Business Management, (3) a considerable positive correlation (r=0.636) and a significance level of less than 5% between efficiency and Business Management and (4) a very strong positive correlation (r=0.853) and a significance level of less than 5% between innovation and Business Management. The conclusion is that those companies that prioritize effectiveness, efficiency and promote innovation within their business management are more productive and competitive in the market; furthermore, this study offers a solid platform for future research and for the development of strategies that promote productivity and business success in the Peruvian context.
