Item type:Publication, Resistencia y emancipación del “nuevo espectador” en el régimen estético del sentir impersonal(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Instituto Riva-Agüero, 2022-12-05)This paper seeks to establish connections between the diagnoses of art in society by Benjamin, Rancière, and Perniola in order to understand the contemporary aesthetic crisis characterized as a regime of impersonal feeling. To this end, it is intended to clarify Benjamin’s concept of aura and to establish a connection with art and politics that will be amplified with Rancière. The article will address the causes of the lack of autonomy in contemporary aesthetics, pointed by Perniola, to discuss in what way the emancipation of the spectator is possible by playing with the emptiness, the unspeakable, or the shadow of art. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, La sorpresa en la experiencia estética de la música popular(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2024-12-10)Popular music has used new technologies and the globalizing nature of our time to expand into different species of daily life. We live overstimulated by different rhythms, melodies and sounds. In this diverse context, how do we explain that we like something new? In what follows, we propose to explain the genesis of taste, starting from the temporal structure of surprise proposed by Natalie Depraz: anticipation-impression-resonance. The idea is to understand taste as a possibility of surprise; as a resonance of the first sound experience. In this way, a different perspective on the aesthetics of taste can be offered: outside or differentiating itself from established aesthetic models. Furthermore, it will be possible to understand how surprise participates in the origin of the different musical communities that are responsible for sustaining mass musical productions. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Romanticism and Landscape: An Eco-Critical Approach to the Natural Image(European Organization for Nuclear Research, 2023-03-09)The article traces the genealogy of the concept of Nature and landscape from the romanticism to the second industrial revolution. This archeology of ideas aims to dissect Nature as a subject of discourse in order to propose it as an “empty container” filled with fantasy and which has been instrumentalized by (sometimes) conservative power axes. The ongoing ecological crisis demands a set of new theoretical approaches towards what is that thing “out there” that we call Nature since the romantic paradigm only gives away a passive and contemplative image that serves to economic exploitation and aesthetical consumerism. Through the lens of eco-criticism, the aim is to dismantle and deconstruct the fantasy of Nature by proposing different entry points from interdisciplinarity and critical studies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, A Poet of the Communist Event(2023-11-03)Vallejo is a poet who testifies that something important has taken place in the world. He understood communism as the possibility of reconciling the human being with history, with nature and with himself. If human history was a tale of scarcity and social exploitation, communism could turn it into a productive, just, and egalitarian action. Vallejo celebrated the advances of modernity, but questioned the concentration of capital, the new culture of consumption, and the dominant interests of the centers of power. This chapter addresses how Vallejo’s poetry shows the communist attemp to change the world, but also underlines the painful simulacrum of a set of dark forces that systematically prevent it.6 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, El artista dionisíaco como respuesta al mundo contemporáneo, o sobre la validez de la estética de Nietzsche en el siglo XXI(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2025-12-03)The following paper outlines an analysis of Nietzschean aesthetics with the purpose of strengthening its pertinence for a contemporary perspective, based on the premise that the untimely and reactive nature of art turns it into a powerful resource in the face of a landscape whose value system is unfavorable and incongruent. Thus, Nietzsche’s notions of art and Dionysian artist offer a direct solution to the large-scale hostility caused by the many deficiencies of 21st-century burnout society, as understood by Byung-Chul Han.1
